Does De La Hoya Have Any Chance Against Mayweather In A Rematch?

I have it on my list of fights to watch again. The problem is, it is one out of 56. I am going through all my fights that I have that aren't Vernon Forrest, Winky Wright or Fight of the Years. Some are rematches of FOTYs, some are big fights between the big guys (Oscar, Mosley, Trinidad & Vargas) and some are just random fights that interested me (like Jones vs. Pazienza, no punches landed by Paz in a single round, or Calzaghe vs. Lacy/De La Hoya vs. Mayorga, DOMINATION). I have a lot of fights to watch, and I let my Windows Media Player do the picking by randomly selecting one of them.

Today I watched Castillo vs. Corrales II and Jones Jr. vs. Pazienza. Only Castillo vs. Corrales II survived. Jones Jr. vs. Pazienza didn't have enough utility to me to justify it keeping the hard drive space it was using.

Then you haven't seen the Torres and Corley fights. Both guys had a chance to finish Cotto - particularly Corley who panicked and failed to land anything remotely meaningful after the temple shot. Corley had Cotto hurt for more than a minute, and Torres somewhere in that neighnorhood as well. Torres couldn't finish him due to apparent exhaustion - but I think he did a **** job of trying to finish..

Survival instinct is part of the reason Cotto has survived some of his scares, and sheer luck also is a part of it. A wobbly, groggy drunk only deserves soo much credit for not getting hit stumbling across a freeway.. I've seen it happen though.

Oh its not true? He ****ing stopped using it in the fight against floyd, and cottos jab is a million time more stronger then Oscars. Cotto would **** Oscar the **** up. The hell is all this hype about this overrated oscar? He lost every big fight he ever was in, or do you consider mayorga to be a big fight? Ball licking of oscar when he lost all his big fights.

He's gotten slapped with a few L's in his career, but many observers believe De la Hoya rightfully owns wins over Trinidad and Mosley. There's a difference between losing the fight and getting beaten.

I imagaine Oscar would fare quite well against Cotto, even now.

HaHA.. I just watched the fight and it took me about 3 hours because I was rewinding every exchange, and watching it again multiple times in slow motion. Floyd was landing, potna. He was landing.

NO OFFENSE, I MEAN THIS IN THE SWEESTEST WAY, BUT YOU NEED TO GO TO THE EYE DOCTOR!!!!IN FACT MOST OF THE EXCHANGES IN ROUNDS 2-8 WERE A SHOCK THAT DE LA HOYA COULD PULL FAST MEANINGLESS 3 PUNCH COMBO TRADES MUCH BETTER THAN FLOYD MAINLY BECAUSE HE LETS HIS BODY GO, FLOYD WAS SURPRISINGLY STIFF...

IN FACT I FIND IT HILARIOUS THAT IN THE 2007 REVIEW, THEY PUT A FIVE PUNCH COMBO BY FLOYD IN WHICH THEY CHOOSE TO PUT THE PHRASE "MAYWEATHER BEGINS TO OPERATE LIKE A SURGEON"........AND OF THOSE 5 PUNCHES, HE LANDS ONE GLANCING-PARTIALLY BLOCKED SHOT....

HELL. IVE SEEN MAYWEATHER GET HIT BY AT LEAST 23 PUNCHES IN A ROUND BY CASTILLO IN THEIR SECOND FIGHT, AND COMPUBOX ONLY GAVE CASTILLO 9 CREDITS.....

Like I said in another thread, I based my pick of Cotto vs. Mosley off of Mosley looking really fast against Wright in their first fight. I need to get a better education of most fighters, and that is the best place to do it, in their previous fights.

Survival instinct is one of Cotto's assests. Cotto makes it very difficult for you to finish him off. He moves around well, and when you get set, he sticks that nice jab in your face,.

Cotto does beat Oscar, but he sure as **** doesn't do it in a jabbing contest. Oscar is a natural lefty... his jab is strong as ****.
