probebly some others Im not familiar with

personally, Im thinking Ali has the better record. Louis had a few rematches that werent necessary when talking about his title defences...but still a fantastic fighter, of course
If all that mattered were the number of title defences, someone like Julio Cesar Chavez is the best fighter of all time...

and btw, Lennox has an excellent record. sometimes people just look at the Tyson and Holyfield wins and say 'they were past their prime' and think that sums up his career. but in reality, Holyfield and Tyson were coming off of pretty damn good wins going into the Holyfield fights, and Lennox's career consisted of very good competition, like Morrison, Ruddock, Bruno, McCall, Tua, Klitschko, Rahman, Mavrovic, Golota, Tucker, etc.

You got all the answers eh

Ali hit and danced , just like Robinson , SRL , and the current best in the world FMJ ,, these hit and dance guys as you call them beat the **** out of guys that lumber like Louis , the thing that makes the special ones of this style really great is underneath thier first line of defense being truly gifted speed and pin point accuracy they were extremely durable and could fight at fast pace for the whole fight , Ali was never knocked out and fought bigger punchers than Louis ,, I,ll tell you something mate the very best of the hit and dance guys dont get beat too often and never when prime and they are in the zone , this when they make it look easy whipping elite fighters .

Well, neither did I, so I don't know why you brought that up, like you say, he has a very good resume, and on top of that, he's beaten every opponent he's ever faced, why would it be out of the question for him to be considered #1?

You asked me "You seriously think that's a bad resume?" as if I said anything like that.

Anyway - he's not #1 because there are more talented HWs with better records. You know who they are so I won't go into that.

Just because you're talented doesn't mean you're better. Lewis has a definitive size and reach advantage to most HWs in history.

Not to Foreman. Not to Ali. Not to Larry Holmes.

And you think those 3 could have beaten him? Foreman would be eating too many jabs from Lewis, and eventually lose it in the later rounds, much like the Ali fight. Ali always had problems with other jabbers, so we know how that goes, against Holmes it's debatable.
