I can easily see Kessler as a top level lightheavyweight. If he was struggling at all to make weight, it's a good move for him.

He never mentioned weight trouble at all. In fact after the Calzaghe loss he considered moving either up OR down.

However he did weigh in stark-naked at 168 for Calzaghe.

The guy is freaking huge. I think he could make Cruiserweight if he wanted to.

I'm not sure...maybe Kessler doesn't see the Mundine fight as a real challenge; for whatever reason he's passing on the Miranda bout. Do we know if he's ever hinted at having problems making weight? He's not a devastating puncher at SMW, solid but not debilitating, so I'm not sure how moving up will help his odds at dominating.
Maybe, but he has been 168 on the nose since 2003, and a lb or two below it for a couple of years earlier. He's 6'1", and solid. As for KO power, his record, 39 fights won, 29 KO's of which 17 are straight KO's not TKO's. And some of thiose probably were too.

Allowing that many of his KO's came in earlier fights, the TKO's which were really KO's would balance. Also just 2 fights before Calzaghe he KO'D Marcus Beyer, a 45-2 highly respected 34 year old exWorld champion. so he must be a hefty whacker. So, at just now 29, he has all the ingredients to make a pretty respectable and successful Lt-Heavy.
