What next for JM Marquez?

He should go with Guzman at this point. He may have a problem with Valero since I think they both have the same Japanese trainers, and Guzman is more rewarding. From there he should take out one lightweight champion to chase Manny. He has to chase Manny if he wants another huge payday because I dont think Pacquiao is going down to SFW anymore. Otherwise he could just rule 130 and until he retires.

You think Guzman is the best option for Marquez if he wants Pacquiao in the fall? Guzman would definitely be a good win and I'd love to see someone put a whoopin on him, but his style is very difficult and could derail Marquez's road to a third fight with Pac.

I don't think Marquez and Valero have the same trainers, do they? Marquez has Nacho Berinstien and I don't think Valero is trained by him. Anyway, that fight would probably be tough for Marquez to accept since it'd probably have to be staged overseas.

Back to Guzman though, now that I think about it, a lot of people were saying that Pac ducked Guzman and if Marquez could beat him soundly, that'd look good for the third fight too. I don't know, like you say, he could always just stay at 130 and reign supreme if he beats Guzman, but he'd miss out on that big payday with Pac.

That might be a bad idea. Guzman can beat him and that will mess things up for Marquez IMO. It would be a good none the less but from a business standpoint it would really hurt Marquez if he were to lose.(just my opinion)

If Marquez truly believes he beat Pacquiao twice already and wants a 3rd match that badly then he has no choice. Simply racking up wins against the 3other panzies at 130 that Mayan sun thinks are monsters definitely aint gonna do Marquez any favors financially or legacywise.

I think Guzman is the only guy at 130 that Marquez would get major props for beating. Other than that, the rest would just be stay-busy fights...there's some solid guys, but not anyone that people would be amazed that Marquez beat.

Which is exactly why he has no other option BUT to move up to lightweight along with Pacquiao. And in the same token Casamayor has no other options BUT to fight Marquez. Even Joel knows that without a Marquez victory then Campbell and the undisputed lightweight championship is a wayy more attractive bout 4 Pacquiao. Campbell sure as hell aint gonna fight Casa anytime soon cuz he wants his payday as well and knows Pac will come knocking for his 3 straps.

A 3rd fight with Pacquiao would be $$$ for both fighters and promoters. But that sonnamagun Arum has his gameface going and have set conditions to which only JMMs camp could only accept and they dont have much bargaining power.

What other trilogy in boxing history has ever been so bitterly contested without a clear victor and spanning 3weight divisions?? What other fighter in boxing history has ever been on the verge of making history 3 times only to have the same opponent stand between him and history three times?? If i was marquez i would be hounding nacho to get delahoya on the fone and make this fight happen. cuz a trilogy bout under these circumstances would be the mega fight that will shatter ppv records and put fighters on the world map. Anyone even remotely interested in boxing will tune in to see if Pac could carve out a history making 4th lineal title and place in history he will have all to himself and topple Mayweather's reign as the p4p best?? I'm with you, the idea of Marquez-Casamayor sounds great! We're just stating that IF he were to stay at 130, Guzman is the only fighter worth fighting...if you want recognition for it. A Pac-JMM fight at lightweight with belts at stake would be huge! I don't know about a million buys, but it'd be big no doubt!

Perhaps...but a Casamayor victory actually gives the Marquez camp plenty of leverage. Cuz marquez could refuse the 3rd fight with Pacquiao and defend the lineal title against bum after bum. Keeping history and p4p supremacy just out of Pac's reach. And besides...the fight would be so historic and make so much money regardless... that both could retire on the spot very rich men...win lose or draw.
