In the U.S. and Puerto Rico Cotto is.......Anywhere else Hatton is.

30,000 People fought tickets from UK to Travel to USA just to watch Ricky Hatton fight, His fight with Mayweather did 1 million in UK ALONE, 800K in USA, Mayweather was not known in UK before the Hatton fight to casual fans, His fight vs zoo did well too, Cotto's highest PPV was against a Superstar in Mosley which did less than Mayweather vs Baldomir.

Hatton has a lot of support in UK, only 5000 fans could actually be in the crowd of the Mayweather fight but 25,000 went there to Vegas to watch him in bars, near big tv screens, etc. A lot of them came to weigh in as well.
hatton is the bigger draw by far. hatton's fight against urango and others didn't do well because they were in the U.S., if those fights were in the UK it'd have sold out.

Cotto needs more exposure than just Puerto Ricans and NY.

you have to wait and see what happens with a fight betweeen cotto v. mayweather...

yes hatton v. mayweather brought 85%-95% of the fans in attendance for hatton...

what would cotto v. mayweather do?

i think (especially if the fight is held in NY) cotto would do some good numbers as well...

you have tons of cotto fans in NY and its basically cotto's hometown away from caguas P.R.

the major difference i think is there wont be tons of people coming from P.R. they like came from england for the hatton v. mayweather fight.

hatton REALLY doesnt have that many U.S. fans...majority in attendance came over from england so you can make a point to say hatton has the ability to bring more fans from england than cotto can from P.R. (there wasnt many coming from P.R. to see cotto v. mosley or cotto v. judah...majority of the cotto fans were from N.Y.

i think that would be the case if cotto fought mayweather with just a bit more coming from P.R. than in prior fights (since it would be a bigger deal than cotto v. judah).

truth is when you put the number 1 p4p fighter in the world against anyone you are expected to have a huge buzz.

              its only natural.

i cant say who is more popular overall until the night when cotto would fight mayweather and then you'd know for sure...right now its just speculation.

Doesn't the fact that we're still waiting for this fight (in the context of PBF's much avowed love of money) kind of answer your question?

so what's the big deal u don't even like hatton.
There are not many Puerto Ricans in the world.

UK is about 60 Mil compared to PR which is about 3 Mill

Not all Cotto's fans are PR like Judah implied/suggested.

Do you see how many PR are in this world? Imagine if they had more numbers.

Pound for Pound PR is better. I am not very fond of Puerto Ricans (Mexicans and Puerto Ricans don't get a long very well) but PR is a force to be reconed with and if people can't see or understand that, I don't know what to tell them.

I still had to put Hatton on the vote but Hatton ain't **** in boxing and Cotto will beat PBF if PBF ever grows a set. Cotto would beat the snot out of Hatton in 8 rounds.
