Is Pacquiao Your #1 P4P if he Beats JMM?

Joan Guzman, Soto...there are several other worthly featherweight opponents. He doesn't have to fight them all, just the top fighters. Pac has the skills to beat them all. Then he's PFP #1.

lol get real. you're turning a blind eye to pac's achievement. he's been tearing thru several divisions in a brutal manner and been consistently at #2 on most experts list while a few ppl only put joe in the top 5 after he beat kessler, on some he's in 6-10.

Joe Calzaghe has defended his title 21 times. You have to be pretty good to pull that off, even in a week division. Two of his last four fights were against opponents either favored over him (Lacy) or equal in the boxing public's eye (Kessler). And now he's moving up to 175 to take on the lineal champ there.

Meanwhile, Pac has done well for himself, too. Velazquez and Solis were two showcase fights, and Larios moved up two weight classes to fight Pac (and Mayweather catches **** for fighting Ricky, who only moved up one!). He did beat Morales twice, and Barrera once, but most people know that these two were on the downside of their careers when they fought Pac. They're more names on a resume than a true challenge.

However, P4P is subjective. To me, it represents the skills and abilities of a fighter, compared to those of other fighters in boxing. PBF is hands down the most skilled and gifted active fighter. That's why I cannot give Pac a #1 P4P ranking even if he wins big this weekend. However, if PBF's opposition keeps getting soft, and Pac is able to clean up the division and maybe move up one and have a big win at Lightweight, he'd definitely deserve to be considered #1.

it's still skills, however awkward or unorthodox it may be. whatever you have, if you're so good at doing it, and it's very effective, then it's skills. a lot of fighters have good form and poise, nice to look at, but they simply lose.

I agree, and I too have Mayweather #1 P4P, based on his talent...even though his opposition has been weak.

I'd have to say on resumes alone Pac would be higher than Joe C on the pound 4 pound list. Yes Lacy might have been favored but Pac's competition was proven. Maybe on the tail end of their career's but still very dangerous. And considering the way he's won, he's done his job.

imo, it's based on talent PLUS the quality of current opposition. that's why P4P is ever changing. if not, then most would have PBF at #1 forever.
