Nope just until he loses...or becomes very inactive.

so you mean if he fights journeymen, wins, and be active, while pac continues to tear thru top opponents, pbf would still be #1? it's skills PLUS quality of opposition and how you fare against them.

I think you have a good point there.

Actually pound 4 pound is your ability to move up in weight and continue being successful. And if that doesn't say Floyd Mayweather then I don't know what does.

He would have a good arguement to be number 1 p4p but the ONLY reason i would hesitate to put him there is Floyd Mayweather.

Say Floyd loses in september to Oscar De La Hoya...then i'd bump Pacquiao to first place so long as Pacquiao wins...whether it be a dominant decision over marquez or a big knockout...or a close split decision win.

Pacquiao is achieving great things to be considered the p4p best but i believe Floyd has to show something that makes him unworthy of the p4p ranking...like a loss.

I also think that somewhere down the line a catch weight fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao is going to be needed.

Each fighter has beaten some great (future hall of fame) fighters and very good fighters in general...

            with mayweather you got:
            Diego corrales
            Jose Luis castillo
            Arturo Gatti
            Zab Judah
            Oscar De La Hoya
            Ricky Hatton

These fighters are VERY good fighters...

Corrales was undefeated at this time...
Castillo was in his prime at lightweight
Ricky hatton also an unbeaten fighter who is a very good fighter
Arturo gatti you can make arguements for but he wasnt a bad fighter...a bit raw but not bad
Zab judah is a good fighter
Oscar De La Hoya...the name says it all...oscar has done some great things in his career and considered a future hall of famer (rightfully so) and possibly one of the best of his era...

            with manny pacquiao you got:
Marco Antonio Barrera (a future hall of famer and mexican legend)
            Erik Morales (the unforgetable trilogy)
Juan Manuel Marquez (it was a draw the first time but look at it like this...he IS the number 3 p4p fighter...for good reason)

not as many good fighters as mayweather but he's only been fighting in the U.S. for what? 7 years about...

i think a top 2 p4p catch weight fight needs to happen eventually...

it would be great for the sport and it would be HUGE with casual fans...

your reply can be applied to pac as well. from 108 to 130, collecting lineal belts along the way. so no, imo, p4p is not just that. the PLUS that i mentioned is a big factor.

gatti a HOF? i think not. only delahoya is a shoo-in in that list. the rest are very GOOD but are debatable and possibly for HOF, but not shoo-ins.
