Nothing Steward could've done would've made Jermain a better fighter, save for resurrecting the spirit of a prime Tommy Hearns and put it into Taylor's body.....even then I think Taylor would've found a way to **** it up.

you're a hypocrite. with all that you just said about hopkins and with him even being 3 years older since his fight with taylor your putting points on hopkins to beat the longest current raining and undisputed champion joe calzaghe. lol

Nacho Beristrain on accompishments alone warrants "best active trainer"

I agree that Roger should not be discussed when mentioning the best trainer in the business, because so far he is a one trick pony (he could be very good, we just cant base that on his training one of the smartest fighters)

BUT... Steward was already training fighters 35 years ago, Roger was still fighting full time in the 90s. Roach has been training fighters for 20 years... The comparison is not fair

i know that's so true remember when he moved up 15lbs from middle weight to light heavyweight to fight the much smaller natural light heavyweight tarver.

I agree with the original post, I don't really understand why Roger is considered one of if not the best trainer in the world when he only has 1 star fighter.

Steward was giving Taylor all the right advice, for some reason Taylor just never listened to him, I think it was a chemistry thing where they didn't gel in the corner but listening to his advice to Taylor in the corner, Steward normally gave the right advice but Taylor would go out and do the complete opposite.

roger is a bit overrated as people saying he is the best trainer. sr taught floyd at least as much as roger has, and he deserves credit as well. enzo calzaghe has done a grat job with joe, and has some decent guys under him as well. manny is manny, andi s a hof trainer. i think that we have a ton of good trainers, and what makes a great trainer is when he finds a fighter to work with, and they just click! same for a fighter finding the right trainer! i am not sure it is fair to pick a guy and say he is the best!
As for the taylor having no talent bit i have to say you are dead wrong! he is very talented, and a great fighter. he beat bhop the ledgendary, atg 2 times ffs!
