    Is Popkins overrated?

Most of his 20 title defenses are against blown up welterweights.
When he did actually step up against bigger guys like Taylor and Roy he lost.
Tarver was never really good and Johnson has like 100 losses.

    Calzaghe has only fought bums.

Kessler, Lacy, Eubank, Robin Reid, Mitchell, Brewer, Sheika, Veit, Bika they were never really good. Why? Cuz I say so.

      We're talking about Popkins.

Keith Holmes was a two-time middleweight champion.
Robert Allen was the interim middleweight champion.
Simon Brown was a former light middleweight champion who KO'd Terry Norris.
John Jackson was a former middleweight champion.
Carl Daniels was a former light middleweight champion.
William Joppy was a two-time middleweight champion.
Antwun Echols and Howard Eastman were worthy opponents because of their punching power. Echols was 22-2 (22 KO's), Eastman was 40-1 (34 KO's).

Not that those fighters were great but they were solid opposition.

Add in wins over Glen Johnson, Antonio Tarver, Winky Wright, 'Tito' Trinidad and Oscar De La Hoya, and the fact that he was the middleweight champion for over 10 years and that he went 10 years undefeated.

He has also never been schooled in a loss, fights against Taylor were close and winnable and Hopkins was the only man who gave Roy Jones somewhat of a fight at that point of time (both fighters weren't at their best).

Popkins has a resume full of names that nobody knows.
Roy Jones and Taylor are well known but he lost to them.
Oscar, Tito, Winky are all naturally smaller than Popkins and they had no business fighting in his weight class.
                Popkins is overrated.

                  Overrated. Easy to say.

Those fighters who Hopkins beat were good during their time and top ranked middleweight contenders/former champions. Just about every single one of them was considered a threat for Hopkins' title.

Even those small guys Trinidad and Wright and that 'overrated bum' Tarver, all were favored over Hopkins.

Just because you don't know them, doesn't mean they were s***.
Same goes for the ignorant Americans who don't know about Calzaghe's opposition.

No one is talking in this thread about Calzaghe... I'm just wondering, a LOT of people are saying Calzaghe fought nobodies, he's an overrated protected fighter. If he beats B-Hop, what will you say? Or will you make excuses like I expect 99% of Hopkins' fans to do and not give Calzaghe credit?
