    Holyfield

    Maybe Jones, Hopkins

Calzaghe's trying to work on it

Is Chavez Sr. considered active? I imagine he'll fight again...

Because it was 10 pounds south of where he fought Hopkins.

Are you really trying to tell me that size doesn't matter in the ring?

Why don't we just say **** weight divisions then, and unify every title?

First up, Sam Peter vs. Eagle Kyowa!

      The more-skilled fighter will win!

none of the fighters mentioned in this thread are undefeated and still defending their title in a fourth weight class. floyd is in a class by himself.

Hopkins had to come down 5 pounds for that fight and basically Winky had to move up 10. That's really only 5 pounds that Winky had to gain.

What he meant was size doesn't matter when you are so close in divisions to each other. Harry Greb defeated freaking Gene Tunney when Harry was best at Middleweight.

Carmen Basillo weighed only 153 pounds when he defeated Sugar Ray Robinson, 160 pounds.

Many other "small men" beat the bigger man. Hopkins had to come up 15 pounds to fight Tarver and he dominated him.

Now for the topic on hand:

          - Hopkins
          - De La Hoya (Vargas, Quartey, Chavez, Camacho, Whitaker)
          - Jones
          - Holyfield (best out there right now)

ODLH didn't beat Sweet Pea, just like RJJ ain't no SILVER medalist.

I'd say Holyfield and RJJ are currently above, ODLH and Hopkins are currently even. If they both lose their next fights then Mayweather stands alone at #3 but only slightly ahead of JoeC. I think he'd be even with RJJ had he fought someone like Margarito or Sugar by now..

DLH looked like he beat Pernell to me, but Sweat Pea was past his best. At 43, there is nothing that Hopkins can do to decrease his legacy, and DLH quite a bit past his best, can't hurt his losing to the top fighter in the world again. JMO.

Only Roy Jones and Holyfield. Oscar stumbled on the big stage too many times.

Of course size matters, but truly elite fighters should be able to go up one weight division and beat good fighters. It wasnt like Hop campaigned at 170 his whole career so I dont think size was that big a factor in that fight, not like he tried to bully Winky around the ring either, his smarts in the ring won that fight. Its been proven that elite fighters can tolerate at least one weight increase and beat good fighters, weight dont win fights, skills and smarts do.

I believe it was said best in the latest Rocky film, " Nowadays everybody wants a legacy. You know what you get instead of a legacy? PAID. "

I believe this is a quote that Money Mayweather lives by. Oscar started fighting at a higher level a lot younger and has not stopped since. Love him or hate him, that alone should be enough to take your hat off to. Evander Holyfield's legacy speaks for itself, a virtual who's who of the HW and CruiserW division of the last 20 years.
