What reason would he need to use Spinks for leverage, in order to land a fight with Baldomir? Baldomir was going to see his highest payday fighting Floyd regardless. He was still selling feather dusters prior to his fight with Judah for christ sakes! Leverage my ass!

I think it means the way that matchup unfolded, leaves the better man in the ring the winner. But just b/c Baldomir or Gatti's camp builds up their fighter doesn't automatically legitimize an opponent. Fighters Have to be build up. And a guy like gatti had been through a nasty war already.. so the chin people remember him for may or may not still be there.

Not speaking about Floyd's earlier work.. I think it is difficult to be very iimpressed with the welterweights that Floyd has defeated. It can be spun a million different ways and it is true that Baldo had a belt, but the names on his WW resume speak for themselves.. and they don't say very much at all.

I guess that's just your opinion then, and i respect it. I realize that Margarito isnt a highly skilled boxer, but he has other tools to give Floyd hell for 12 rounds. He has a very high punch output(100punches per round), unlike Baldomir. He has power and a granite chin. He also has the stamina to go a full 12, while picking up momentum as the fight goes into deep water. Floyd likes to rely on his opponents getting tired in the late rounds. He knows that wont happen with Margarito. Lastly, Margarito isnt like Judah. He doesnt get discouraged when he gets hit. He comes back harder instead. Floyd know's all of this, and that's why he has not, and will not face Margo.

I respect your opinion but regardless of all that you have to admit that PBF beating Margarito would get him the same amount of accolades as it got him for beating Baldomir. Which is basically none. That is all I am saying.

IMO PBF would have gotten a little more credit for a win over Margarito but not that much more. I say that because even amongst diehard fans Margarito is looked at as a unskilled to limited skilled fighter. So when comparing that to PBF skills all that will be said is that PBF beat a bigger and tough opponent who may have made him fight more than most but the outcome would have been what everyone expected. Also if PBF had a win over Margarito it would be shot to **** now considering that Margarito lost to Williams.

yes he was going to get to see his highest payday, but maybe he was asking for 2 or 3 M instead of 1M

when has Floyd ever agreed to a verbal fight with anyone, it was obvious leverage...look Baldomir, I can go fight Spinks for less than what your asking and still get a shot at oscar, that's basically what that was
