To Those Complaining About Mayweather Ducking - Max Kellerman

A recent article by popular scribe Eric Raskin on ESPN quotes HBO Boxing analyst Max Kellerman in regards to Floyd Mayweather Jr. Kellerman gave his view on what Mayweather Jr's responsibility to the sport is right now.

Kellerman tells Raskin, "Because Floyd is so good and he has proven himself, is it incumbent upon him to fight everyone? You could argue not necessarily."

Kellerman added: "You could argue that if his approach is to let someone emerge as a money guy and then he'll fight that guy, that's an OK approach. The whole division is fighting each other, and then the most worthy guy steps forward and Floyd has to fight that guy."

Kellerman had a message for those complaining that Mayweather Jr. is ducking challenges: "I think if Cotto were to beat Margarito, or vice-versa, and Floyd didn't fight that guy, that would be a real problem, wouldn't it? But that has not yet happened."

"So for those who are complaining that Floyd is ducking guys, hey, someone needs to emerge to create true demand for it," said Kellerman.

He was nothing more than a Journeyman who happened to have those belts practically fall on his lap due to judah's ******ity! Who exactly did Baldo fight within those 10yrs? In his fight with Clottey, Baldo was getting his ass beat, up until Clottey was Dq'd for headbutts.

Since when is fighting the guy who is THE champion in a division a ridiculous fight for the P4P best in the sport?

I agree with Kellerman about none of these guys creating demand for a fight. I just would like to see Mayweather be a more active champion. Though I seriously doubt Mayweather cares about what belt he has or doesn't have at this stage of his career.

Floyd at that point saw Baldo as "easy prey" If Floyd was THAT concerned with challenging Baldomir for his WW lineal title, he wouldt've of went seeking a bout with Mosley and Spinks prior to signing to fight Baldomir.

Why shouldn't have PBF fought Baldomir and gotten those belts?

Baldomir was ring champ and "the man" much the way Cassamayor is at LW. Everyone knows that Margarito was the real man to beat at WW when Floyd moved up.

Baldo was just a poor man's Buster Douglas.

Not saying he "shouldn't have", but lets not making seem as if Floyd was determined to become the WW lineal champ, when in fact, he called out Mosley, and Spinks, before actually fighting Baldo. The fight with Margo was presented to Floyd, and Floyd came up with 1000001 excuses not to fight him. He already had a set ppv date with no official opponent, and Margarito was the only fighter willing to face Floyd. Floyd then started desperately seeking an opponent, and asked Mosley and Spinks. Mosley had already stated that he would be taking the rest of the year off after his rematch with Vargas, so that got shut down. Unless u suffer from insomnia, a fight between Spinks and Floyd is out of the question, and the promoters realized that, so that got shut down. Floyd was left with the winner of Gatti/Baldomir, and decided to fight the winner. Those are the facts!
