Do people really think this is the worst robbery ever?

Round 7 = (Whitkker)seem to be landing at will with little head movement from Chavez.
Round 8 = (Whitkker) Definitely PW's round Chavez is just hitting too many combo to the head, Chavez seem tired, Not moving his head while PW seem to be in the mood to take him out but he lacks the power.Comment

Round 9 = (Chavez) Both landed good punches, Chavez done well to comeback after losing the last 2 rounds on my scorecard but he looks tired.
Rond 10 = (Whitkker) Chavez just leading his head and eating too many jabs from PW.....
SIDENOTE: Commentator noted that Whitkker might not get out alive if he gets a decision in Chavez's Hometown.Comment

The first 6 rounds were competitive i had it even but after that it was all Pernell Whitaker, the reason why it is considered one of the worst robberies of all time is because it was a major event. Both men were 1 and 2 on the P4P rankings. I think Ramirez vs Whitaker 1 was a worse decision i think i only had Ramirez winning 3 or 2 rounds at best.I'm rewatching Whitaker-Chavez right now... I do remember the fight being a hell of a lot closer than most people make it out to be. Right now I have watched the first 6 rounds, and I have to tell you... I think Chavez won 4 of them. 1, 2, 4 and 6. I do remember Pernell comes on pretty damn strong in the later rounds, but even if Chavez doesn't win another round, it would end up 116-112 on my card.
Now, I'm not the best judge in the world, or probably even in the upper half, but I can tell you that it means something when I see a brawler/swarmer win a round from a counterpunching slickster, because I usually see a slickster avoiding most of the incoming damage and returning some of his own, yet I still have Chavez winning 4 rounds.
But seriously... people act like this fight was a 12 round to 0 assbeating by Whitaker, and truth is, it wasn't. He clearly won. He clearly got screwed. It clearly was not even close to the worst robbery.
One of the worst robberies was James Toney vs Dave Tiberi or Azumah Nelson vs Jeff Fenech 1.Last edited by Burning Desire; 02-04-2008, 08:15 AM.Comment

Exactly what I was saying.
But somehow, it has gotten into a bunch of idiot's heads, who probably haven't even seen the ****ing fight, that Julio didn't win a round and Whitaker had him out on his feet for at least 34 minutes of the fight.Comment

gee strange that mayweathers hit percentage in compubox is the highest, guess those guys scoring are also mayweather fans. That's because these kids in the Floyd era look at fights differently, and judge past fights on their ice-skating standards. They forget the goal is to beat the other guy up.
Remember how badly Oscar was beating Whitaker? A few months back someone posted a gif of Whitaker slipping a few punches, of course without throwing any back, and said look at Whitaker "owning" Oscar. You can't "own" someone in a fight without punching themComment

Yup, well said. That's because these kids in the Floyd era look at fights differently, and judge past fights on their ice-skating standards. They forget the goal is to beat the other guy up.
