glad he was cool to you. i don't hate the dude. i hate child ******ers and racists. not bert sugar. that said, he annoys the hell out of me, and no amount of convincing will make me think otherwise.

this is the last thing i'll say about this (and it was also the first thing i said): i hate his whole persona.

What has this guy done for boxing that warrants being inducted? Besides running his mouth?
He is a boxing historian and philosopher of the sport...having said that I havent got a clue.

Being a historian to offer insight on fantasy matchups, and being one of the foremost authorities on all-time rankings certainly is helpful to the sport I would think.

I can also be evidence of Sugar introducing old-school fighters to me. I started watching last year, and every time I watched ringside with him, I found out some new **** about old-school fighters.

and this is enough to get SOMEONE inducted in to the HALL OF FAME?

doesn't that seem like a major miscarriage of justice to the fighters that gave years of BLOOD, SWEAT and TEARS? And how about the fighters that give years of the same and don't get in?

they let a guy in for verbally regurgitating the work physically produced by the pain and sweat of others and for running his mouth about fantasy match ups?

I just don't get it. it just doesn't seem right.

              Different category.

Also, trainers who don't fight get into the HOF.

But mostly, there is a separate category for journalists and historians who had a profound effect on boxing.

It's no different than Larry Merchant making it into the HOF (if and when he does)... he has influenced boxing quite a bit.

He has probably written more literature on the sport of boxing than anyone else, hence he has put boxing out to the larger world through literature more than anyone else. Those books, articles, publications also happen to be very well written and backed by knowledgeable facts and many, many years in the business. He does deserve to be put into the HOF. Don't forget there is a section for non fighters in the HOF. Anyone who contributes largely to boxing or effects it an any great way, whether through training many great young fighters or writing/speaking on it, can get in.

Since when being a boxing historian puts you into the Hall of Fame?? My father knows 10 times more about boxing then Bert does, I guess my father should also be in the hall of fame.

Bert is an idiot who is obsessed with the old timers, he overrates many fighters that are OK fighters at best. His knowledge is not as good as some of you n00bs think, especially when it comes to international boxers.

Bert may know more about boxing then 99% of Boxingscene but so ****ing what, most people in year don't know **** about boxing.

Hall of Fame should be for boxer and trainers only, it's a joke when you see some good fighters that never makes it to the hall of fame and we have guys like Bert in the Hall of Fame.

I tend to agree with you. I have read things in here that, IMO, were much more insightful, knowledgeable and entertaining than ANYTHING i have heard from Bert Sugar.

Did you hear his pathetic, ****** ass analogy on FNF about how the HW champ decides who the next superbowl winner will be? WTF! And then the Patriots (his predicted winner based on some assinine theory he came up with that I couldn't even follow) ends up losing.

And I also agree the HOF should be for fighters and trainers only. To do anything else is diminishing the accomplishments of the people who EARNED the right to be there...

Just so strange how the president for HBO boxing being ***ish has given so many of the commentator jobs to other ***ish people.

                      Just a coincidence I guess.
