Maybe someone can tell me exactly what t.v. boxing show Sugar is the announcer for now or has been in the past? Not been a guest on but was "the" host or announcer.

All conjecture. No one has been able to mention ONE quantifiable accomplishemnt Sugar has done for boxing?

    I'm still waiting....
I'm not sure if you knew this or not, but Bert Sugar is a very respected print media icon that edited several boxing magazines including Boxing Illustrated and Ring Magazine. It was Sugar that brought Ring Magazine out of the gutter following Don King and the ABC tournament controversy in the 70s. He's written more than 80 boxing books and has preserved the history of the sport like none other.

I'm not sure you if you grasp the significance of media in sports, but it is the reason any of us find out about boxing.

Bert was the editor of Ring Magazine and i own 2 or 3 of his books i believe.

His book of the 100 greatest champions of all time is one of my favorite books of its kind

I dont like Berts personality as much as the next guy, but the guy is good for boxing. He's got no enemy in me thats for sure, and he looks like a nice guy...

What has this guy done for boxing that warrants being inducted? Besides running his mouth?
and not only fighters get inducted into the hall of fame, so why would his induction be an injustice to the fighters???

Refs, announcers, anylists, writers... they all get into the hall of fame

Ah, the internet. Where any random jackass can question anyone that has done more for boxing than posting on a message board.

Better to let the world believe you are a simple moron than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Now this is what the whole thread was intened to answer. I have no idea what Sugar has done, that is why I was asking.

I have been watching boxing for 30 years and really only follow the fighters. I've never been interested in following boxing writers, pundits, anoouncers, promoters etc., nothing wrong with it, just not my thing.

I've heard Sugar speak many times on t.v. and have never been particularly impressed with any things he had to say and didn't care a whole lot for his persona. I don't like the guy or dislike the guy, frankly, I couldn't careless.

However, because I had never been impressed with the guy and had never heard anything from him that I thought was particularly relevant, when I heard he was inducted, I was honestly curious as to exactly what he has done to earn that. This is/was an attempt to learn.

Obviously not you, but MANY posters on this board are so simple minded that anytime they read anything they can't understand or disagree with they get defensive, flustered and catty like a bunch of little bitches.

in contrast, i have read quite few posts and debates from people on this post that were very insightful and actually changed my opinion on a few subjects, solely because of what they had to say.

maybe it's safe to say; just because you and a few others happen to like the guy and happen to identify with some or many of the things he says, doesn't
make him any more or any less knowledgable about any subject. it just means you like and respect the guy and that's cool.

but don't try to come off on other people like they don't **** about boxing just because they don't share your same opinion. i mean what's next? we ain't going to heaven because we don't congregate and donate to your church.

the question was, what has he done for the sport of boxing that got him inducted into the HOF? I'd like to know. **** what he has said or what he has forgotten and all the rest of that bull****. what has he done?
                thought this was interesting......
