Povetkin just beat an undefeated 30-0 contender and an ex champion before that. Please tell us about Winky's biggest win in his first 14 fights...

I was very impressed by Povetkin's willingness to work throughout the fight. However, he needs to work on defense. But then again so do most of the prospects out there. I don't see him beating Klitchko though.

Chambers needs to work on his conditioning and lose that awful lean-back defense.

I disagree with those who suggest that he didn't take Chambers' punches well. When Chambers landed, he tended to do so very cleanly (Povetkin really has to work on the defense). While he isn't close to being among the heavy hitters in this division, Chambers was throwing some searing counters and he didn't appear to buzz Povetkin once in the whole fight from where I was sitting. The fact that Povetkin ended up with a mouse on his eye means absolutely nothing. Maybe I read it wrong, but Asian seemed to suggest that Povetkin's mouse was indicative of a weak chin or something. I think Povetkin is above average as far as the HW's are concerned, but his size and defense make him an obvious underdog against a giant like Wlad. I've never really been impressed with Wlad though and I believe that it's just a matter of time before he gets KTFO'd again. Povetkin showed a good chin tonight. If he has a great chin and can take Wlad's shots, I give him a fair chance to upset Wlad. That'll sound delusional to a lot of folks, but I think anyone who can deal with Wlad's power and isn't afraid to throw back will take Wlad out.
I don't think Povetkin has a weak chin, I just don't think it's a badge of honor to get swollen up by a swollen cruiserweight.

Nothing he can do really to prevent a mouse from forming. That's pretty much going to happen to most guys when they get popped in the eye. That was a pretty big right hand he took to earn that mouse. It swelled up immediately. Good thing for him that his corner handled it well.

Chambers had 240+ lb Calvin Brock pretty swollen in their fight as well. I do consider it a badge of honor to fight your heart out for 12 rounds, even after getting your eye almost shut early.

Chambers just sucks and ppl overrated him. The guy fought like he was in a turtle shell the whole fight because he was afraid of getting ko'd. The guy leaves his body open all the time.

Yeah he sucks alright, that's why Chambers was able to win the first four rounds convincingly. So what does that say about Povetkin? The thing about Chambers is that he was able to stay consistent for 12 rounds against Brock and Guinn, I don't know why he just suddenly just broke down in this fight.

you are blind, he didn't win the first 4 rounds. He lost the first 2 rounds, and I'd give him 3 and 4. You have to land the most punches to win a round, maybe you don't know how to score boxing. Its not who lands the least punches, but the most. Understand?

Good heavyweight fight, but Povetkin cant win against guys like Wlad. He has to improve his defense and his punching power. Chambers lost this fight but still he seems to be the more capable and more talented fighter, even his punch seemed to be not only faster what was clear from the beginning, but also harder than Povetkins. Chambers had the tools to win the fight but he gave it away. Povetkin got a bit exposed in this fight. He was hyped verry much, people said hes a complete fighter but he isnt. I always thought he could become champion, but not against someone like Wlad!! Hes definately NOT the savior of the division but i have to say BOTH guys, Chambers and Povetkin, are better fighters than Chagaev and Ibragimov. But both have not the style and size to beat Wlad. Someone like Peter would also be a nightmare for Povetkin, Povetkin goes forward, Peter goes forward and that would end verry dramatic for Povetkin. 2 sluggers, but Peter is so much bigger physical than Povetkin, i think he would walk over him. Povetkin himself said after the fight that he needs more time to improve himself and is not ready for klitschko yet, so i think he will fight someone different even though he won the eliminator. They said something about Povetkin that he had a light flu during the the training camp, maybe that was the reason he didnt looked as good as against Byrd. But dont expect that Povetkin will face Wlad in his next fight. And i think its better that way, he needs 2-3 more fight against other Top15 or Top10 boxers to get used to tough opposition.

Against Brock I thought there was rounds where he waited and waited to throw just like today's fight, but Brock wasn't able to keep up the pressure while Povetkin did. I remember watching the Brock fight and the only rounds I gave to Brock were the ones where he just outworked Chambers. Chambers just seems to worry about defense too much at times and doesn't take the risks that are sometimes necessary to win.
