So, Povetkin is a Olympian and an allstar Amatuer. And he has fought bigger names then Chambers had in Bryd and Donald. Both shot but still. He WONT get much better then he is, but he'll probably wise up and shorten up his punches.

And i thought Chambers was almost intimidated by his trainers, and is probably afraid to disappoint everyone that has put so much hope and effort into him, by retiring. And i think that may be what was happening.

Id love to be wrong because i like Chambers a lot and if he get into the game mentally and actually FIGHT when he has to, he could accomplish something

He could Definetly accomplish a lot at Cruiserweight. Id pick him over David Haye IMO. Good close fight

Chambers early on looked like he might be the spoiler and derail the Povetkin train, but decided not to throw punches and even in the last rounds when he needed to let his hands go he didn't. I think Max was exactly right when saying he doesn't know if Chambers wanted to take the risk and get hit himself. It seemed to me Chambers was afraid of success while Povetkin wanted it. He was throwing a lot of punches in that last round when he didn't need to.

I agree with most here since Potvekin showed a lack of defense and was eating a lot of those jab and right hand combos he might not last long against Wlad. A fight I would like to see though would be Chris Arreola vs Povetkin, both men would throw a lot punches and press forward.

Povektin had a VERY GOOD win tonight, and to say he WONT get any better is RETARTED.

        good night

I'm tired of reading how Chambers is twice the fighter of Povetkin. I agree that Chambers showed flashes of a great boxing ability, but if he is unable to sustain the workrate or hurt his opponent with the limited punches, then he is not that good.

In the early rounds, he landed some great punches, but they did absolutely nothing to deter Povetkin from advancing. This is not the amatuers and you do not get style points. In the pros, toughness and will, when all else is similar, separates the mediocre from the good to the great.

Asian Sensation is right on the money. Neither guy was impressive. And if you consider what was on the line... Where's the hunger? Sorry to say, this is just another sham. Can any of you seriously see Klitschko losing to anyone out there? And I'm no fan of his. The heavyweight division is at present clubland. Zero happening. Watching espnclassic earlier made me miss the old days (20 ****in' years ago, if you can believe that!) All those early Tyson fights. The man was... the man. Ferocious. Povetkin? Chambers? Silly.

Favorite Tyson knockout is 1st round stoppage of Reggie Gross. Of all Mike’s ko’s this one stands out for two reasons: 1. Gross really tried to take it to him and actually caught Mike once, with an uppercut. A large volume of punches were thrown towards the end of round one. Tyson slipped most but he did get caught. Then, in the midst of bobbing, weaving, slipping, etc. he connects and Gross goes down (for the first time but that was basically it). A short fight but one that showcased all of Tyson’s abilities at the time. 2. Gross was built much like B. Douglas and showed a similar style. Needless to say, Mike was his own worse enemy. When you look at this fight, among others, I think it’s his speed and defense that makes him special. Power goes without saying but the speed was ridiculous. And his back ****ing looked like the skyline of Manhattan. Huge and ever-changing. If you catch my drift.

As for tonight's action... no comparison.

            Slugs being slugs.

The guys Tyson went against were like Chambers and Povetkin.

There are a few good HWs, and a lot of cannon fodder. Just like 20 years ago.

Povetkin is no all-star talent, but he impressed me with his work rate and solid chin. During the last several rounds Povetkin looked as if he was hyperventilating on his stool, but he came out punching as soon as the bell rang. He's well conditioned and mentally tough. I disagree with those who suggest that he didn't take Chambers' punches well. When Chambers landed, he tended to do so very cleanly (Povetkin really has to work on the defense). While he isn't close to being among the heavy hitters in this division, Chambers was throwing some searing counters and he didn't appear to buzz Povetkin once in the whole fight from where I was sitting. The fact that Povetkin ended up with a mouse on his eye means absolutely nothing. Maybe I read it wrong, but Asian seemed to suggest that Povetkin's mouse was indicative of a weak chin or something. I think Povetkin is above average as far as the HW's are concerned, but his size and defense make him an obvious underdog against a giant like Wlad. I've never really been impressed with Wlad though and I believe that it's just a matter of time before he gets KTFO'd again. Povetkin showed a good chin tonight. If he has a great chin and can take Wlad's shots, I give him a fair chance to upset Wlad. That'll sound delusional to a lot of folks, but I think anyone who can deal with Wlad's power and isn't afraid to throw back will take Wlad out.

Good comments. I certainly agree that Povetkin will be in trouble if he takes shots like that from a more serious puncher than Chambers. You've got to think he's got a chance late in every fight with his workrate if his opponent tires.

Povetkin isnt bad at all, he just doesnt have the power or size to be great. Chambers on the other hand has a laser right when he wants to throw it, and not much else.
