I bet that Arum has a deal with Clottey. If Margarito wins he vacates the title to fight Cotto, giving Clottey a title fight. If Cintron wins he enforces the mandatory, making Cintron fight him or drop the title to fight Cotto. Either way Clottey gets his title shot and Cotto has his summer PPV opponent. That's the way Arum's mind works.





IMO, Cintron would drop the title to take the much better paying Cotto fight rather than a difficult defense against Clottey. Also I think Arum is confident that Margarito will win this fight anyways.

I think the scenerio could go like this. Winner of Cintron/Margarito gets Cotto only if he vacates the IBF and then Clottey gets his shot with the current IBF #2 Berto as long as he wins on 2/9. As stated earlier the winner of Cintron/Margarito becomes big enough for a PPV with or without the IBF. Would love it if it could be a unification but just don't think it will work out because of Clottey's mandatory status and the fact that Margarito/Cotto/Clottey are all promoted by the same person. Regardless this is a great fight for the fighters and the fans!!

Exactly. When you are promoting all the fighters it is in your best interest to split the titles and keep your talent happy by being in title fights all the time. Cotto vs the winner won't make any difference in sales if it is for one title or for two titles.
