Get a f'in grip of reality people. Hopkins is the same man who picked Pavlik over Taylor and Hatton over Mayweather, you really think he is some black supremacist who thinks all 'blacks' are better than 'whites' at boxing?

The only thing Hopkins thinks about is how HE is better at boxing than ANYONE. No black man, white man, yellow man, blue man or green man is better than he is. That's what Hopkins is thinking about.

Hopkins said 'no white boy is going to beat me' because if he had said 'no man is going to beat me' Calzaghe would've immediately countered with the Taylor and Jones losses. Racist remarks also sell tickets because some insecure 'white' folk and anti-racists will want to see him get his ass beat.
All this talk about double-standards is exactly what Hopkins wanted.

Hopkins goes lower than just about anyone else (except Mayorga). It has worked for him in the past and it seems to be working for him now because people are talking about him. Controversy sells I guess.

Calzaghe is playing along with Hopkins' comments, why else would he say 'A white boy is gonna kick his arse' and 'I'm going to be all white when we fight'.

This stuff sells, learn to live with it. I tend to ignore silly fight hype comments such as this.

I dont think hops is a racsist but it was a ridiculous comment. the sad thing is if it was a white guy like calzache saying the opposite,,,he would be in deep trouble. this double standard sucks

If Calzaghe had a trashtalking persona like Hopkins does no one would take his comments seriously except people who don't quite understand the boxing business.

Even if he made racist remarks about Hopkins.

Calzaghe would get heat for saying the 'N-word' but if he said 'I won't lose to a black man' I'm not too sure.

Think about it, if Calzaghe had in the past thrown the Denmark flag on the floor, if he had pushed and punched his opponents at press conferences/weigh-ins and if he had talked all kinds of trash about every boxer alive just to hype his fights, do you really think his comments would be taken all that seriously?

I'm sure quite a few comedians are not so politically correct but people don't take those comments seriously because of who they are, comedians.

Calzaghe seems like a self-confident but classy man while Hopkins has always acted like an egoist trashtalker who has no respect for any man. You would expect comments such as this from Hopkins but not from Calzaghe.

That's only the persona they show when they are hyping fights though so we don't REALLY know who they are.

What we do know (or atleast I do) is that Hopkins has lots of 'white' friends and he has often picked 'white' boxers over 'black' boxers. Couldn't this just be hype for his upcoming fight?

Given how the Americans reacted to their anthem being booed I think Calzaghe making comments about race might just be enough to send some of them over the edge.
