What you fail you realize is that Margarito DID NOT want to fight Williams. He questioned his record saying "who has Paul beaten to deserve a shot at my title". But Paul enforced his mandatory position and got the fight after the WBO threatened to strip Margarito of his title.

HAHAHAHAHA, he had a fight lined up with Cotto, and decide to fight Williams instead. He took the fight, signed and fought it and had legal issues with Arum. I realize he was a mandatory, but he could of vacated and then fought Cotto, and that fight would probably suit him more, but he chose to fight Williams.

The main reason Mayweather bouth out his contract is so he can get more money for himself. He also did it because Golden boy and Top rank had beef back then.

Arum wanted him to fight Margarito, he wanted to fight Baldomir (not Golden Boy promoted), so he bought out his contract and then was free to do as he pleased. it's that simple, the golden boy fued became relevant after that.
