Vernon Forrest Tells Margarito: "Let's Get it On"

It didn't take long for WBC junior middleweight champion Vernon Forrest (40-2, 29KOs) to answer the call of Antonio Margarito (35-5, 25KOs). During an earlier interview with BoxingScene.com, Sergio Diaz, manager of Margarito, said his fighter would be willing to move up to 154 and fight Forrest. [details]

Arum will never let this risk Cotto-Margarito in July, hopefully they meet down the line because arum won't be having this ****. And damn that was a quick response from Forrest.

That's a copeout. If you call somebody out.....it's gotta happen. You gotta understand something. A promoter works for the fighter NOT the other way around.

Arum works for Margarito. If he was serious, this fight will happen. Blaiming it on the promoter is just an excuse.

It's not only up to Margarito. It's up to his promoter and I don't see Top Rank letting a risk fight like this happen with Cotto in the wings. Top Rank has Cotto and Margarito. If one were to lose, it makes things a lot harder to get a new opponent from a rival promoter.

So that's why Mayweather had to pay almost a million dollars to buy out of his promotional contract so he could fight whoever he wanted? That's right, it's the other way around buddy, fighters don't call the shot unless they've got enough star power, especially with Bob ****en Arum.
