Do you really think a boxer like Antonio Margarito (or Vernon Forrest) makes his own fights? He is under contract with Top Rank, and he fights whoever they put on the contract. The people who put the money up make the fights, not the fighters.

That's bull****. Arum wanted Margarito to drop the WBO belt and fight Cotto for his WBA title. Margarito didn't want to look like he was ducking Williams and made the deal with Goossen. Arum was going to kill the fight until Margarito signed an extension with Top Rank. This isn't my opinion, it is fact. Go check it out if you don't believe it.

Bigger name=BIGGER share of the purse
If it is 50/50 the bigger name is not getting the share of the money that he would want.
