Roy Jones is back.

the 1st one wasn't a flash KD, he was hit on his temple and had a delayed reaction and he was still wobbly, I always said Tito had a shaky defense and his chin is strong but his legs don't support him well enough.. trust me you ain't telling me NOTHING about my favorite fighter, I know why he fell and why he lost, he went back to thinking and not punching in the 2nd half of the fight and it cost him, he didn't let his hands go for the latter part of the fight, but he got the best out of the 1st half where he DID let his hands go, add that to the shaky defense and just like I said Roy would pop shot his way to victory and even land shots to rock him..
my post was referring to you saying he showed no heart and no desire, people who get up off the floor and continue fighting with spaghetti legs are fighting to win..Comment

Roy looked good, then again I thought he showed flashes of this in the Hanshaw fight. Trinidad being one dimensional and right in front of him helped out. I was surprised with Tito's pop early then by the 6th it was gone with the exception of some solid body shots.
I dont see why this makes him "back" though. Beating a natural 147 lber and all. It was a good spectical if anything.Comment

Roy and Hopkins would probably be closer than Roy-Calzaghe. I think Roy still doesn't like to get hit much and won't engage in a slugger. Calzaghe would jump on him a lot unless Roy's power bothers him. We all know Jones-Hopkins ain't happening though...Comment

I think Jones still has 1 more big fight left in him. Tonight he looked good but he could have done more, there's still a lot of potential.
I think he was extra cautious in this one because Tito can punch, and those left hooks to the body had the power and snap. But even when he had him hurt after a knock down, he just wouldn't let his hands go and go for the kill.
I'd say the most impressive thing tonight from Roy Jones was his intelligence/adaptability. He knew what he was doing, tried out a few diffirent things(His jab appeared in the 10/11 round and worked well) but doesn't need the showboating. Instead of making gestures he should be throwing flashy combinations. If his goal is to mess with the guy's head he should flurry like he used to do.
He definitely needs to stick to the straght punches, and he does well especially with the straight right. I think those wild looping shots should be gone. Too much risk and his accuracy isn't the same anymore.
His defense has improved quite a bit and I liked how he didn't freeze on the ropes too much. Like someone mentioned before, it's very unlikely that he will get KO'd again. His opponents in the horizon aren't big punchers, and like I said he adapts to his opponents.
In conclusion: Good victory for Jones, had a good showing, but we should not forget who/what type of fighter he beat tonight. If Jones wants to fight Calzaghe or someone from that level he needs to have that little extra something again.Comment

I would disagree with that. I didn't think Tito would carry his power well to 170, but he surprised me, he still had some pop on his punches.Jones did well for his age.
He played with Tito but Trinidad hit him with some vicious bodyshots. Too bad Tito doesn't have much power at that weight.
Jones fights more like an older man now but that style won't work against younger fighters. Roy could still be competitive with Bernard and Glen Johnson though, I hope he fights either of them and retires with dignity.Comment

I have never thought Tito was a diminshed fighter as many others believed, he simply had his weakness exposed by two great boxers in Bernard and Winky. Tito can still punch, he can still take a punch, and he can still pull the trigger, Tito still has some years left in him yet.People laughing about him making a comeback now are pitiful. Roy Jones went out and proved tonight that he still has gas in the tank, and Trinidad looked the best he has in years tonight.
That said, I would take Jones to beat Calzaghe and Hopkins...and anyone else in the middle to light-heavy division in the world. Jones/Dawson would make for a great fight!Comment

It was impressive because the Tito that showed up was NOT the Tito that people expected to show up.This is honestly funny.
He fought a blown up welterweight. He fought a guy who wasn't sharp. His timing was off. His reflexes diminished. A little slower then usual. Past his sell by date.
And he did pretty much what he was supposed to do.
What was so impressive about it?
The Tito that showed up tonight was 10 times the fighters people were expecting.Comment
