That is horrible promoting because it would have been costing Arum more and more each fight. It also just shows how greedy Arum is and how Margarito wasn't being ducked. Arum was just trying to promote him for a payday, that would have back fired.

no fool. you are in denial. offer was made Floyd rejected for less money. just man up and accept it.

The offer wasn't made. It was just promoting to help get Margarito's name out there, even if he had to make Floyd look bad (Who was on shakey terms with Bob at the time anyway).

Face it, just because a promoter says something about his fighter doesn't always make it true. There are MANY reasons supporting that Bob never offered him the 7 million. The only real "proof" you have is an article that had Bob Arum saying he offered it.

Btw Don King said Trinidad Jones is the best match made since Holmes vs Ali. He said it, so it must be true right? We should believe everything a promoter says afterall...

but go ahead with excuses I expected it.
Yawn... Mayweather had been bitching about Arum for ages... Wether he was right or wrong, it was easy to see the divorce coming, even for a biased outsider like you.

Of course it does not mean you wil beat him, it means you think you will.

                ECONOMICS 101
Especially if you do it at an early stage of your career, when you dont want to risk losing your unbeaten status, and hence some of your name recognition. You don't call out fighters you dont think you will be able to beat, because you are going to risk your future income.

ECONOMICS 101 - let's apply it to the comparison you make.
Cotto is already headlining PPVs NOW, Mayweather 4 or 5 years ago, was known mostly to hardcore fans and was not headlining ****. So they are at different moments in their careers, in terms of name recognition.

And win/lose/draw fighting Mayweather now means more money then fighting Mosley 4-5 years ago.

So Cotto calling out Mayweather sees more money than Mayweather saw calling out Mosley.

Being already a more estabilished name, Cotto sees less future income vanish by losing to Mayweather (p4p king), risk than Mayweather did if he lost to Mosley (not p4p king), lost to Vernon Forrest. It is for this reason that Mayweather fancied his chances to be pretty good, most likely better than Cotto fancies his now.

That being said, I am sure Cotto thinks he has a great chance of beating Mayweather.

I am not a Mayweather fan. Like I was not a fan of Roy Jones or Ray Leonard. Obviously, like everyone likes the fighter type more than the businessman type. I also know that they are BOTH fighters AND businessmen as most seem to forget. But I am objective when I compare them to other fighters, and I forget how full of **** they are the minute they enter the ring. I also know that I would behave like them, and so would many of the hardcore keyboard fighters on these boards.
