here we go
Floyd was with Bob for two more fights when Bob made the 7 mil initial offer AND Floyd bought himself out of his contract with Arum after the Judah figth for almost a mil, meaning his contract wasnt up or atleast not soon, or he couldve just left...
but go ahead with excuses I expected it.

Well to call somebody dont mean that you are gouing to beat the guy. I think that you are a floyd fan so. The same thing with floyd cotto is calling out maywther so we can say that that is going to beat maywether right?. Of course not. Your argument dont make any sense.Comment

That 7 million dollar offer was bull**** (Maybe the 8 million dollar one too, but the 7 million one was for sure)
This how is basically went down. It was all pretty much bluffs.
here's two fighters - Assy Mc***go and Biggie ****son- whom let's say I promote. Mc***go is the top dog; he's regarded as the best fighter in the business, expects big pay-days and is popular enough to choose his opponents at will.
Now my guy, ****son, has some momentum behind him but is, by no means, at the level that he'd bring in as much money or fans - Mc***go would be the draw. So, not only is he widely considered the better fighter, but he's the more popular fighter by far. But I know if I can just convince Assy to give Biggie ****son a shot- if ****son can pull it out he's hit the big time. He'll make more money, I'll make more money; we have nothing to lose fighting the top dog and everything to gain.
So, how do I convince Mc***go to fight my guy? My guy who brings less money, recognition, or popularity to the fight? Well, I can't genuienly offer him a huge pay check without taking it out of my own pocket; and I'm sure as hell not going to do that. Where would the 7-8 million he wants to fight going to come from if my guy can't generate anything close to that much? I bluff.
My only shot is to try and make Assy Mc***go look like a punk by saying I offered him that much. Then, when he says he doesn't want to fight my guy, he'll look like he's afraid. Hopefully, that'll turn the tables enough to make him fight us just to shut us up. It's a long shot, but I want Mc***go to give ****son a chance...
That's pretty much what happened with Bob Arum and the Margarito-Mayweather issue.

Listen, why would Arum offer 7 million dollars to fght Floyd, but only 6 to fight the bigger name in Judah?
Floyd and Arum were already on bad terms and Arum wanted to make Margarito a name. There was no 7 million dollar offer.Comment

Because he promoted both Margarito and Floyd I suppose. Marg and Floyd fighting each other at that time made Arum more money then Floyd fighting Judah who he didnt promote. Im thinking DK promoted Judah at the time...?

Even if he had taken the Margarito fight, Mayweather then would have demanded more then 7 million for each fight. Arum wouldn't have that kind of money each time and he would have lost Mayweather, and the payday he could have brought in.
That is horrible promoting because it would have been costing Arum more and more each fight. It also just shows how greedy Arum is and how Margarito wasn't being ducked. Arum was just trying to promote him for a payday, that would have back fired.
Still, Bob Arum saying he offered 7 million is bull. I don't care if he was with Floyd at the time. It was just nonsense promotion to make it get Margarito's name out there.Last edited by warp1432; 01-16-2008, 11:10 PM.Comment
