1.So you seriously consider Carlos Baldomir to be a legitimate threat?1. Of course he conquered 147. He beat the lineal champ and the #1 ranked in Judah at the time, who was former champ. Mosley wasn't at that weight when he conquered it, Cotto was new and barley coming up in weight, and Floyd beat the best fighters put in front of him to take the Welter Weight lineage, passed down from Pernell Whitaker. Ws Hatton a WW contender? Yes, if Floyd is a WW champ since they both fought 90% of their careers below that weight, and Floyd fought the vast majority of his fights at a weight lower than Hatton and is probably the smallest so-called WW out there. This is why you have a p4p system and why Floyd is a p4p fighter who can move up at will and beat you. He's not defined by weight classes, he walks around at hat he walks around at, regardless.
2. Floyd didn't fight Gatti or Brussels at Welter Weight. Please increase your boxing IQ. The way he beat them though was more impressive than anybody else who beat them, which carries weight. Also, Brussels isn't exactly a bum, just not a name. He's a part of the Cotto camp, actually and Gatti is decent. I wouldn't say he was "shot" since even in his prime, Floyd would have done the same. Like when Manfredy beat Gatti's ass only to get his ass handed to him by Floyd.
3. Well of course I respect a legend's opinion over yours. Someone with years of boxing experience who has no boxingscene agenda or any feeling towards Floyd. Someone who's been watching the up and comers since Floyd was in the Olympics. Why wouldn't I respect his opinion over yours? You have an atg in SRL saying he's the best of this era, DLH saying it, Mosley saying it, Hopkins saying it, and you think that your biased views hold any weight?
Floyd beat Hatton outside HIS weight class. HIS, as in "Floyd's. Hatton is not naturally smaller, that is the most ****ty and repetitive excuse I keep hearing.
One guy has 30 something fights below 140, and Hatton has 43 at 140 and above, walks around heavier, and is bulkier. You are being ridiculous now. The fight with Oscar doesn't have to be entertaining and the win isn't debatable since no one is debating it. It was a clear victory and all of the writers say the same. Regardless, Oscar is a HOF, who was a great shape, bigger than he was, and stronger with a great Jab. Still got outclassed. Which brings us back to the words of a legend:
"Floyd's number one this era. He's proved that, against Oscar, now against Ricky Hatton. He's fought the best fighters of his era, so that puts him up there. There's a few more fights left in Floyd, and bigger and better things to come."
That is like people considering Rahman the best HW when he Ko'd Lewis.
So what about the timing of Cotto coming up.....
He is now established as a Welter.
Whats your point?
Because Cotto wasn't ready then he should be disregarded now?
2. I know he didnt beat them at Welter but they weren't Prime Contenders either.
Cotto & Floyd have fought some less than elite fighters was what i was getting at.
3.I also respect SRL's opinion but in the end it is just that.
AN OPINION.
Manny Steward has been in Boxing for years and predicts BULL**** consistently.
4. You still haven't answered the question.
Why are you happy not to see Floyd fight?
And PLEASE don't take any heart from Ree****yaluss comment of me being "Owned" when it comes from a guy who thinks RJJ will be an Elite fighter again if he beats Tito.
That is like being patted on the back by a Child.Comment

beautyWhat amazes me is how unrealistic some of you are. The man has fought for the last 20 damn years!!! Some of those complaining have not even been alive that long.
Floyd says he needs a vacation. That is a personal decision and obviously, he deserves one. Floyd could beat everyone in the world, and there will still be complaints about him, who was too easy, who the ref. helped him beat, a new young contender he should fight, etc. It will never cease, so I commend him for having some balls and saying "I'm taking a vacation."
You all need to get over it. He's on vacation!
since being the champion at welter he has declined to fight the past two #1 contenders..as a matter of Fact since being the champion he hasnt even faced a top ten welter.
get over what? When Shane said he had a vactioned planned ( WHo has been fighting longer then Floyd) all of Floyd's fans jumped all over Shane..Shane was back in months. Floyd is saying he wants a two year vacation?? any real fan of the sport has a right to critisize him

The litmus test of Floyd's legacy isn't cleaning out the welter division. That would be cool, but it isn't the bigger picture.
Floyd's legacy is mastering 5 weight classes over the course of a decade and beating some of the very best on offer. A perceived 'failure' to clean out every last division does not invalidate that very admirable legacy.
The guy isn't even a full-blown welter. To expect him to set about mopping the canvas with everyone in that division -- rather than test himself at the weight and prevail (which he has) -- isn't reasonable.
It would be nice if he did continue on and take on the likes of Cotto, Williams and Margarito. I would like to see him take it into his head to try. But I won't diminish him if he decides he's done enough.
He is one of the greatest fighters in history. When you're talking about boxers whose names sit in that rarified company, terms like "best", "greatest" and "of all time" become much less meaningful. All of these guys have a significant claim to stake.
Floyd quits now, he leaves an amazing legacy. It's his own legacy, with its own stamp, defined by its own accomplishments, beholden neither to the past nor the increasingly insatiable expectations of armchair fans.Comment

Man some fighters fight 5-6 times in a year.
All he needs do is fight at least ONE of his challengers this year which is plenty of rest.Comment

Well since some of yall like to be technical bitches. They are right PBF doesn't "NEED" Cotto or Williams. Saying that PBF doesn't "need" them isn't the same as saying they don't want to see PBF fight.
Do they R.I.F. wherever you from?Comment
