Pryor was amazing. If someone insisted Pryor as the P4P all time best over SRR, it would be hard to argue, the man was a genius, nonstop fearless punching machine who could handle anything, including making Arguello look like a bum and slapping around Thomas Hit man Hearns like a rag doll.

P4P List: (No order) Robinson, Duran, Pryor, Jones, Sanchez, Leonard, Whitaker, Hopkins, Monzon, Armstrong,

Leonard retired form boxing 11/9/82 due to retinal injury, which if anyone wants to know, this is the very reason why Pyror is blind in one eye today. Pyror did not beat Arguello until after that, and this was very questionable due to the mysterious bottle.

Pryor was a great talent, who unfortunately came along at a unfortunate time. He was not even a blimp on the screen when he openly challenged ray, in fact the only reason he was at the meeting was because ray brought him there. He and ray were very very very good friends. I do believe that if ray had not retired and Pryor not gotten on coke, that they would have met up. This IMO would have been a very easy win for Leonard, bad balance bad defense, he is a great swarmer, but has no head movment and leonard hits harder, faster and is much bigger than Arguello. Pryor has not beaten anyone at jr Welterweight or any weight for that matter that was at therir most effeicient weight, was a great fighter and in their prime. We simply dont know what we have in Pryor he did not get tested.

Yea............Right. Ray himself has said he didn't wish to fight Pryor because of the hunger he realized was within him. He HIMSELF said Pryor was just to hungry and a "monster". Ray is alot of things but one thing he isn't............is a liar. Pryor would have whooped on Ray for 12 rounds, taken his best shots and would have kept coming forward.

Pryor & Marciano both shared that Indomitable will to win. Both small guys who punched above their weight and never knew when to quit.
It's a shame Pryor never got his shot at Ray or the others.
To write him off as having no chance anyway is quite shocking.

I do not agree at all that it would be an easy night for Leonard. Pryor would have given Leonard one of the toughest fights of his career.

wpink1 makes some solid points in his posts here, all of which would normally be accurate if we were talking about any other fighter.

However, I don't see Pryor as any other normal fighter.
That man was something else. You can see it in the way he carries himself. You can see it in his fights, in the manner he keeps coming forward no matter what.

That man, on his best night, would beat Sugar Ray Leonard. I'm absolutely certain of it.
Hearns, I don't know. He was a monster puncher in the pro's, and only 17 when they met in the AMs.

I am not knocking Pryor at all. he was great..a beast..very intertaining to fight...but WHO DID HE DO IT AGAINST.... One fighter who was moving up to his 4th division never was a great jr welterweight,,and we are not jumping him up to beating Leonard @ 147 who is bigger faster stronger hits harder and had a chin (before he retired) that was great,,,, It is a bit a of a stretch to reach like that..It like taking FLORIDA and comparing them to a NBA team..that is the difference between who Pryor has faced and what he would have faced in Leonard at 147......

Also Pryor and leoanrd sparred several times...and the trught according to personal friends of mine..Jimmy Matz who was there sparring with ray and howard davis etc..was that Howard davis would beat leonard...Leonard would humilaite Pryor to the point that Pryor ask for help with his balance,,, He did say that once Pyror and Ray had a heated exchange (both had on head gear) and that it went on for a while in the sparring, very spirited..He also said Pyror would get the best of Howard Davis.... Jimmy would have no reason to lie, he was only getting chump change to help ray with bigger fighters..(Jimmy was 154-160).....

Again no knock vs Pryor but he was soooo wide open, and no balalnce chin righ tthere, bad defense..and he beat nobody...NOBODY that was at their mot efficient weight, peak, and a great fighter..He was supposed to destroy these fighters, in fact how did they drop him...Please..Had that have been SRL in the 1st fight with Pyror instead of Arguello, hitting him faster harder and having a better chin...Pryor would have to have been helped from the ring.

To be honest, Arguello was at the tail end of his career when he faced Pryor. Not to take anything away from Aaron, though. He's one of my favorites.

Kaynon...that is merley my point..Arguello was in his 4th division up, and still it ws anybody's fight going into the mysterious bottle...the first fight.. and Arguello was at the end of his days....Cervantez was 35 years old, 10 losses,,,that is it....Who else can we say Pryor beat that was a top fighter...
