Aaron Pryor, one of P4P Greatest ever

espn classic showed his fight on last night with Arguello, the rematch. He made the great four time champ Arguello look like a roadsweeper from Tijuana. Arguello could do absolutely nothing to bother or hurt Pryor. It was a mismatch. Pryor was an unbelievable talent with his own style, he just did whatever he wanted whenever, like freestyle artistry. Punches from anywhere and everywhere. He really made the great Arguello look like a bum which he was not.

Aaron Pryor would have been a threat to Duran, Leonard and Hearns, it is a shame he did not get those fights. Does anybody know what the story was on that, on why Pryor was basically like a sideshow act. Why didn't Don King promote him , or Arum. The guy was the goods. His personality may have been a put off but his talent was as good as any ever shown in a boxing ring.

He never moved up, I presume would be the reason he never faced Leonard, Duran and Hearns.

From what I know, he wanted to fight Leonard and Hearns but they didn't want to fight him. Not sure about Duran.

The first fight with Arguello was a great fight.

he told sugar ray that he wanted to move up to fight him in a public press conference, and sugar ray took the mic away from.

sugar was smart in not taking the fight.. he was truly a monster.. a complete fighter..

he was hurt with one of arguellos shots.. i think it was an uppercut

A Pryor vs Leonard fight would've been great! What a fight that would've been.

Look, the reason Pryor never got these fights is because he wasn't a big enough name. He was defeated in the Olympic trials by Howard Davis (controversial loss) and ended up being his sparring partner. Pryor was to big of a risk and not enough of a reward. He brutalized Hearns in the golden gloves finals but could never get that big fight because he missed his chance on the Olympics, the big contract and exposure. Until Alexis came along, Aaron had no chance to solidify his legacy. He is one of favorite fighters because he was as hungry a fighter as I have ever seen. A "monster" for sure.

I remember on tv Pryor going to a Leonard press conference and asking Leonard for a match in person.Even got on the mic. So lets not say all that now.
