no he said chavez would kill mayweather. and I dont think that would happen. I could see floyd winning a ud and this is coming from a big chavez fan! and chavez was getting his ass kick by meldrick taylor in the first fight. Go watch the fight it wasn't even close taylor was DOMINATING chavez just about every single round. I dont think chavez won more then 3 rounds. He did hurt taylor and ko due to the ref stopping it. If the ref didnt stop it chavez could have knocked him down three times in the last round and he still would have lost that fight on the scorecards. If you want to compare floyd to a fighter in chavez time compare him to pernell which him too beat chavez and got robbed...imo he spanked chavez as much as taylor did.

get a tape of the fight and watch it with the sound off so you won't be influenced by the cheer leading jim lampley (see my other post about ledderman and lampley) is doing the whole time for taylor.
taylor was faster and threw fast combinations but the punches were MEANINGLESS and had nothing on them. it was all show, no substance. by the fifth round you will start to see taylor's face turning to mush because he was getting tagged with some vicious ****, head and body.
after the fifth round start asking yourself, if you were in the ring which fighter would you want to be? that will give you your answer right there.
at the end of the fight just look at the fighters. chavez is damn near spotless, while taylor's face is so swollen he looks like the elephant man.
that kid damn near lost his life that day. he spent 3 weeks in the hospital after and was a shot fighter from that day forward. chavez wrecked him and went on to wreck a few dozen more "champs". what did taylor do after the first fight besides get set up for another easy ass kicking and payday by the chavez camp?
so don't try to bring that bull**** in here that taylor was robbed.
as much as i hate to admit it chavez did lose the whitaker fight but whitaker was in his prime at the time, chavez wasn't. had they fought in chavez' prime it would have been an easy victory for the legend....Comment

The judges that had Taylor way ahead weren't listening to HBO. And Taylor wasn't in the hospital for three weeks and did win a welterweight title after that fight. Meldrick Taylor was truly robbed that night.Comment

just to come back from a supersized ass thumping like that earns my respect, that is real other world **** man. mugged, absolutely. robbed, hardly.Comment

It was Chavez who was outpointed that night, and it was Richard Steele who prevented Taylor from being the first man to defeat him. Your exaggerations and dramatics don't change that fact.Comment

thats exactly what i been saying this whole time he complain bout him not beating sturm and him robbin some matches but who got the WComment

i don't disagree taylor landed more punches thru most of the fight. but the punches were just all flash with nothing on them. that's the same tactic oscar tried to use with trinidad for the first 5 rounds before he put on his track shoes. what a coward.
but fights aren't scored on just "throwing" punches. it is clean, effective punching. taylors were meaningless. taylor was only prevented from being murdered.
let's see if this makes since? after the fight, one of the fighters walks off to dinner and the after party. the other fighter is beaten so badly he can hardly stand on his, his face is grotesquely swollen and he is taken to a nearby hospital for surgery from internal bleeding and spends 17 DAYS there. and you want to tell me he won on points?Comment

east~
come on homey, put down the slider for a minute. we are not talking about oscar bitching up to sturm at the moment. this discussion is about chavez/taylor. when class is in session you are gonna have to pay attention and follow along. i can't have you holding back the rest of the students.Comment

not to mention, between the 11th and 12th rounds his own corner told him he needed a KO to win. if he was so far ahead, why did his corner tell him that instead of just stay away for the last round?i don't disagree taylor landed more punches thru most of the fight. but the punches were just all flash with nothing on them. that's the same tactic oscar tried to use with trinidad for the first 5 rounds before he put on his track shoes. what a coward.
