and how is fighting Kostya when he was 35 brave?

fact is Hatton waited him out as well.

in a BBC article titled "Hatton - the young pretender" February 5, 2002

      Hatton said this ....

"I'm yet to reach my peak and am improving all the time. Kostya Tszyu, on the other hand, is 30-years-old and looks unlikely to improve much more."

so if Kostya is 30 years old in 2002 and according to Hatton "unlikely to improve anymore" .. why not wait longer to fight him? he's already 30.

Yes, and no. Kostya was still fighting well. He fought really well in the couple of fights before Hatton.

Slight change of subject (Witter is a tosser, I've seen a number of his fights and a number of his interviews and he's always a classless prick, but if you haven't and you've chosen to believe Hatton is ducking him then it's senseless trying to debate the point) but who would you say would be the bigger name for Hatton to fight right now? Which would do the most for Hatton's legacy and his bank balance? Malignaggi or Witter?

35 is not all that old. kostya at 35 is still one of the most lethal rh punchers regardless of weight. the guy is a hall of famer, stop reaching. if u say fighting kostya is not brave, and try and discredit him than i have no time for you.

im convinced hatton will never take the fight. its not about the money. if this match would happen..it would be the end of hattons career.

I know Witter is awful to watch but he isn't that bad.

why's everyone going on about witter, hatton has said he doesn't want to fight him because of the things that have gone on in the past, I think this would be a good fight but ricky will just be looking for the biggest fights he can get coming up to the end of his career and while granted it'd be massive domestically it won't be very marketable overseas, the only guy really at 140 is paulie, I also expect haatton to fight at 147 again before he retires.

                      How am I stretching?

35 not that old? in boxing its pretty old.

minus Shane Mosley, Winky Wright and Bernard Hopkins how many fighters today are fighting at a high level in there mid 30's?

                      not many

oh please Mel you can defend Kostya all you want, but the best names on his resume are Sharmba Mitchell 2x, Zab Judah and an ancient Julio Cesar Chavez .. and thats a fact. its a good resume but gimme a break, he retired at 31-2. unified the 140 division .. whoopte ****ing do

I never said anything about Kostya being brave or not

i said Hatton waiting till Kostya was 35 to fight him isn't brave

and yeah you can bring up Hatton's ****ty promoter holding him back and giving him weak names to fight, but why didn't Hatton do the smart thing and try to leave ASAP?
