If Witter was to take a 10% split he would still be making many times his best ever payday.
Rewind to Mayweather/margarito. Where were those arguments then?

Furthermore Witter thinks that he would beat Mayweather which is hilarity itself. If Hatton found himself intimidated by the biggest fight in his career just imagine how Witter would feel coming off filling the men's washroom (second stall) at the Doncaster Dome to a full-on HBO presentation in Vegas. Of course he would have the backing of his travelling fan...

Witter got asked for identification when he tried to get into the Doncaster Dome for a fight he was headlining....

Nice ice rink there by the way.

          Vacant title = undeserving?

okay .. so if Witter is in May potentially

who will Hatton fight before hand?

and stop ragging on Witter for doing nothing to "earn a pay day"

1st of all Hatton fought the 17-0 Juan Urango in January of 07. Who had done nothing noteworthy .. and by the way ALSO picked up a vacant title ... just like Witter ..

2ndly ... these guys are Professionals .. why shouldn't they get paid? Witter is 36-1-2 .. and only lost to Zab Judah.

          what makes him so un-deserving?

if Lovemore N'Dou and Juan Urango can both get chances to be on HBO .. why can't Witter? he has better records then both, (less losses) and also a title to his credit.

you can bring up the fact that Witter won a vacant title all you want

but you have to use the above ^ criteria when talking about Urango and Lovemore as well.

It was a slightly different situation in that Mayweather was being offered a then career high payday. Of course Margarito had a lot to gain just as Witter does, but Arum was offering a number, not suggesting that Margarito would be willing to take the short end of the stick. If Witter or Witter's manager (does he even have a manager? He should.) would like to name a figure, and I would suggest that five million pounds would be the best place to start then fair enough. But saying "Don't worry Ricky, I'll take less money than you" is as absurd coming from Witter as it would have been coming from Margarito.

well he picked up 2 belts actually, and 1 was a belt he gave up to fight collazo.

It all depends what Floyd wants. If he wants to be called the g.o.a.t., then of course not. If he wants to get on with his life, which I think there has been some hint of on his part, then yes, sure.

But the issue here is different. If Floyd had some disrespectful little nag in the press who had nothing to offer him, then yes I would apply the same logic.

Is Marg what you had in mind? I never thought Floyd should fight Marg. Floyd has made the right fights for the past 18 months or so.

yeah Hatton cherry picked off a 17-0 Urango.

Witter has a title as well. and picked it up the same way Urango did .. by winning it Vacant.

anyway who else is going to be a big money fight at 140 .. Malignaggi? keep in mind he's not terribly credible as an elite .. being only 23-1 .. with his title winning performance coming over Lovemore (who also won vacant title)

*you can't use the logic that Witter isn't legit or big money enough to face Hatton .. because of the Urango argument.

Granted - but what should he do? Agree to take only 1% in order to assuage Ricky's fears of granting his fellow professional a financially secure future?
Economics be damned, Witter is still Ricky's #1 home-based challenger. And if Junior has a good '08, maybe unifying, Ricky won't be able to avoid him without it looking like he ducked majorly.
