I do not believe most households in the UK would recognise Hatton or Calzaghe. I'm not saying they aren't very famous but they are not what I would call household names.

i didn't realize how big this fight was in the UK. considering boxing is the #2-3 sport in England and boxing is around #8-10 sport in the US.

this youtube account has all the media build up for the mayweather vs. hatton fight from the UK point of view and watching those videos, its amazing see the mayweather / hatton fight as the biggest sporting event over there comparing to America, it was just another Saturday for us in general (minus the die hard boxing fans).

You're making a mistake even accepting that he is known. He really isn't known at all outside active boxing fans. It isn't anything personal though, it's just that not many fighters are particularly well known in the UK. In fact I can hardly think of a foreign fighter outside the heavyweights who was well known in the last 20 years.

Yes, I'm deeply wounded and shall never recover from your innovative slandering of a British boxer.

                      Are you drunk?????

Boxing is definately nowhere near being the number 2 sport in the UK. Think of football, rugby, cricket, tennis, track & field, Motorsport, snooker, darts, horse racing, rowing......"and the lists goes on and on" to quote PBF.

Some people on here post crazy stuff
