Is Mayweather a Household name in UK?

I think after defeating Ricky Hatton he has became a household name, many of my friends here who did'nt even know him are talking about how they have became fans of him, and will watch him in the future. Do you think after his win over Hatton he has gained new UK fans who will watch him/his fights in the future?

It is really difficult to tell. I think the best guess we can make is that because the fight was on the news all week that your average Joe will probably recognise the name and your average sports fan will probably watch the next Floyd Mayweather fight on Sky Sports if they see it advertised.

It was all over every newspaper...this fight got more hype in UK IMO. the media coverage, etc.

I would think he was after defeating the Hitman who is incredibly popular in the UK.

There was certainly alot ov coverage of the incident but I don't think he is a household name. Hatton and Calzaghe aren't even household names.

They are household names but the fact is more people watch Amir Khan... his fights normally are sold out and have 8 million viewers on tv
