I still cannot believe that, I can't understand how he is so damn popular so early into his career.

David Beckham is a household name, they aren't I'm afraid. They are both very famous, Hatton more so, but household names? I don't think so.

No he isn't. It's as simple as that. I'm from the UK and a big Mayweather fan, but there is no way he is a household name. Boxing isn't anywhere near high profile enough for that o work.

Sure the hatton fight was a big deal but the casual observers are in the process of forgetting him right now. In a couple of months times they will have forgotten wht he looks like, in 6 months time not many will be able to recall his name.

Do you think after his win over Hatton he has gained new UK fans who will watch him/his fights in the future?

Khan is bery big here, because of his olympic background, winning from britain etc, and he attracts a large british asian and british crowd just like DLH attracted mexicans and mexican americans, and normal americans.

The reason behind Amir Khan's popularity is simple. The Olympics and terrestrial tv exposure. Winning the olympic medal instantly made him more well known than Hatton or Calzaghe

This is obviously a question of what we think a household name is.
