Honestly I dont think it matters who wins...Its an interesting match-up and a good fight.
Money is good and the competition is good.

    They should fight.
I wouldnt say Cotto is dumb and I wouldnt say Floyd is cherry picking.

In a recent interview with Franklin McNeil of the New Jersey Star-Ledger, Mayweather gave his thoughts on Cotto trying to lure him into a fight by revealing his strategy to win. Mayweather, as one can expect, does not agree with Cotto's fight plan. More important than that, he doesn't feel the fight makes any financial sense at the moment. [details]
Why no mention of Bob Arum here from Mayweather?

I thought Bob was the problem

Bob wasn't the problem back then. It was Cotto's fan base, which was total crap for an excuse

Pretty sure it was because Cotto lives in Puerto Rico, true fact though Cotto does live there.

Man----anything to try and argue my thread huh?

It was Bob arum----floyd was shooting shots at arum by insulting cotto---it was never Anything personal with cotto himself....

Floyd was a total diva at this time...all about money and nothing else....and he never viewed cotto as a threat to him, never...

He wasn't putting any money in Arum's pocket...it's not that hard to understand chief.

Go and look up another 6 year old post.lol.

This article below is from 2006,a year before this thread came out.

"Arum said while Mayweather would have taken the $8 million to fight Margarito, he asked for a $10 million guarantee to fight opponents such as Miguel Cotto and Ricky Hatton, when Arum was only willing to guarantee $7 million.

Arum said Mayweather also asked for $20 million to fight De La Hoya, a fight Arum said he wasn't interested in participating in.

"That's not in the cards," Arum said. "He wants $20 million for the De La Hoya fight? It's not there. Sometimes, my man, you gotta know when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em. We'll talk about things down the road."

                  Source:

Floyd Mayweather Jr. rejected promoter Bob Arum's $8 million offer to fight welterweight titlist Antonio Margarito, and he instead exercised a provision in his contract to buy Arum out.

The article above shows that Floyd tried to make the fight with Cotto, but Arum didn`t want to guarantee Floyd 10 mil for a Cotto fight, and 20 mil for a Oscar fight. And if Arum would have guaranteed Floyd 10 mil for a Cotto, and 20 mil for a Oscar fight,Floyd would have fought Margarito.Floyd wanted Cotto to get some big wins and to leave Arum, so Floyd can make a lot of dough and so Arum wouldn`t make money off of him.And that`s exactly what happened.

Mayweathers lawsuit against Arum in 2008:

So this shows that their was bad blood between Floyd and Arum.

It's really not hard to see how quickly the fight was made after Cotto left Arum. You can easily put two and two together........but that's too much for boxing super dope genius 2777.

When Floyd wasn't splitting from Top Rank yet, Floyd wanted to fight Cotto, specifically when both were top fighters at 140 in 2005. When Floyd split from Top Rank, everyone started their duck Cotto campaign and all this happened. Cotto splits from them, and it's made.

It's more to do with the fact that Cotto had a PPV star on his own and was less of a threat to Mayweather in 2012. If Cotto had left Arum at the end of 2007, would Floyd have postponed his fake retirement to fight him?

You can easily put two and two togtether.
