I think the Nevada State Athletic Commission SHOULD review the fight definitely and take Cortez' Referee License (if there is such a thing) away from him forever! It was a horrible refereeing job and inexcusable in my opinion.

That's it though, I don't think the fight should be ruled a no Contest though because lets face it. In Boxing you get away with what you can, and even though Floyd was dirty most of us would have been too if the Ref let us do it in order to get the W. While i believe the fight would have been more competitive, Hatton made subtle accusations at first he later sorta just dropped it which means he is not dis*****g the outcome so a No contest would fix nothing since Hatton's mind is set that he lost.

Oh Cortez looked to be biased against Hatton (from my view) not alot different then the ref (Steel?) in the Tyson vs. Lewis fight. Lewis had to fight two people at the same time between Tyson and the ref. Hatton was the same way. But he had to know it could happen. Can you think of the **** storm Cortez would have caught if he had let Ricky fight rough and he had won?

Its cool not letting Hatton fight rough, but geez don't let Mayweather do it. Check the forearm smash by Floyd in R5 before Mayweather goes over the ropes. Its savage and really gets Hatton crazy, thats why he went for the back of the head shot.

I don't think they should rule it a no contest, that would be unfair on Floyd, but a rematch should be a possibility in a smaller ring with a neutral ref/judges.

Shouting at him in my bedroom, I was. He should never referee a match again. Something wasn't right.

Why would he keep interrupting all the time, when that's Ricky's strength, fighting close in like that?'
                  Mate, are you being serious?

I was sat next to Phil Taylor on a plane, trust me he knows **** all about boxing.

He is a friend of Ricky's so.....

Mayweather deserved the win but Cortez was poor overall.

They should review that beautiful left hook that PBFM landed to see if Hatton would have been killed if there was no ring post padding to stop his head as it flew violently across the corner of the ring. I love the way PBFM has exposed the haters for the little crybaby bitches they really are.

I was actually searching for Barry McGuigan's quote but I put Taylor's in for comic value to the uK peeps

                      Edit: here it is:

Former World Champion Barry McGuigan was critical of referee Joe Cortez for his propensity for breaking the fighters up throughout the Ricky Hatton/Floyd Mayweather contest, while deducting a point from Hatton.

"Joe Cortez was very biased, I thought," McGuigan told BBC Radio Five Live

"He broke them up every time. Every opportunity he got, he broke them up.

                      "Hatton fought tremendously bravely.

"I thought the whole thing, the point being deducted, being broken up..... he never really allowed Ricky to fight his style of fight."

McGuigan does, however, believe Hatton should keep fighting.

"Of course he should continue, it's too soon for retiring."
