Mayweather will beat Cotto EASILY

thats one way to look at it but you only thinking about 1 Cotto, you ain't thinking about the Cotto who can fight going backwards, the one who doesn't play into the hands of his opponent, the one who doesn't charge but presses the action, the one whom keeps his hands up and is just about the other best counter puncher in the WW division besides Floyd, the one who out boxed the FASTER THAN FLOYD Mosley(YES, even at age 36 he is faster and more devastating it's just he has more power than skills when compared to Money May), the Cotto who sets up his punches patiently behind his jab and stalks not charges head first.. you talk about only 1 aspect of Miguel Cotto and completely ignore his other, more effective attributes. you act as if ALL Cotto does is apply pressure and you are severely wrong..Mark my words.
You may not like it but its the truth, Mayweather will counter him with lead rights all night, Cotto wont be able to connect so many punches due to Mayweather's defense and Mayweather will take him out of his game plan and frustrate him. WIDE UD for Floyd, Cotto will keep coming forward and pressure, he is a good fighter no doubt about it, but he won a close decision on an easily no defense/easily hitable mosley. Mayweather still has an height/reach advantage, he will move away and box and counter Miguel through 12 rounds.
When this fight happens I'm ready to bet my whole points that Cotto's connect percentage will be no more than 15-20 %.
Cotto has great skills they are just not as flashy on the eyes, it's like a And 1 basketball player and a NBA basketball player, the And 1 guy will do all these tricks and seem more impressive on the eyes while the other guy will just do whats necessary to make the shot and only that, they BOTH are HIGHLY skilled it's just one style LOOKS different than the other, against one another though it's any body's game, anyone could take it because it's all about ability, as long as the ability is there a win can be achieved, they BOTH have the ability to beat each other..
Cotto can beat Floyd and Floyd can beat Cotto but you have to think about it like this, Cotto has dealt with faster and stronger guys than Floyd, 1 even with JUST AS MUCH skills as Floyd which are Zab Judah(Speed & Power), Shane Mosley(Speed & Power) and Paul Malignaggi(Skills) and he has beaten all of them pretty convincingly.. in Floyd's case Floyd has faced and beat people who applied more pressure than Cotto, had better chin's than Cotto and bigger than Cotto which are Hatton(Pressure), Baldomir(Chin) and De La Hoya(Size), to one another they are a big combination of past opponents all balled up into 1, they have elements they BOTH have seen in other guys accept against one another it's a combo all wrapped up into 1 opponent, it would boil down to each of the fighters capabilities, Floyd has more skills than Cotto but Cotto has enough to hold up, Cotto can cut off the ring VERY well and trap Floyd at least for long enough to land the shots that would steal those close rounds, Floyd is a master at moving without running so he TOO can deal with Cotto's approach but it goes both ways, it boils down to opinions and mines is Cotto will win..
Cotto knows how to return fire and counter you with bombs, people underestimate dude's skills and power, punch accuracy and EFFECTIVE aggressiveness, Cotto is a powerhouse and can absorb anything Floyd gives him, he may just be hurt but he can maintain and bounce back.. Floyd knows how to control a pace, he knows how to bring a defensive fighter into an offensive one, he has the kind of style that makes his opponent abandon theirs and feeds into his, he did it with Hatton towards the later rounds and has done it time after time to countless opponents but Cotto WONT fold, he wont fall into that trap, Floyd's skills will carry him to the distance but I don't think it will win him the rounds that will determine the fight, Cotto is more compact so his punches will have more umph, he will be coming forward but not charging so when Floyd does that 1 hit and bounce **** he does he will be countered, eventually Cotto will find Floyd and land the bombs that will win him those close rounds.. I give Floyd his 100% respect here, you can see that, this ain't about race or color it's about hands and skills and IMO the favor is in Cotto's corner.. 100Comment

you're a funny guy, it shows how immature you are. Be true to yourself and answer this...
1) How many Title Defenses do Cotto and Williams have?
2) Who is a "TWO DIVISION" Champ?
3) How many former World Champs and Current World Champs have each fought??
4) Which fighter can fill more seats at a main event??
5) How much did Cotto get paid for his last Fight, and how much did Williams get paid??
They're real simple questions.Last edited by guzi815; 12-10-2007, 11:13 PM.Comment

okay **** rider..let me break this down. Cotto fought at 140, and almost got knocked out by Corley. How many guys has he almost lost to?? Judah almost finished him, Mosley had him gassed. Williams fought Margarito, tougher then anybody Cotto has EVER fought, and he outclassed him with ease. He would take that midget Cotto and mop the floor with him, EASILY, ticket sales and all that bull**** you're talking about have nothing to do with the fact Williams would beat him from pillar to post without breaking a sweat.Comment

no, oscar's jab gave floyd trouble, and that's it, because he timed it well. mayweather has been in with people who jabbed a lot and he countered over their jab and a few for knockouts also. cotto does throw a good jab, but floyd counters over jabs great, and had oscar not stopped using his, he would have eventually been countered with right hands, trust me. cotto's use of his jab is good, but that would leave everything else he does wrong exposed, he would be countered effectively by floyd.Comment

so your saying cotto dosen't have good timing??no, oscar's jab gave floyd trouble, and that's it, because he timed it well. mayweather has been in with people who jabbed a lot and he countered over their jab and a few for knockouts also. cotto does throw a good jab, but floyd counters over jabs great, and had oscar not stopped using his, he would have eventually been countered with right hands, trust me. cotto's use of his jab is good, but that would leave everything else he does wrong exposed, he would be countered effectively by floyd.Comment

mosley, paulie, nor zab has ever had or has the skills that floyd has, period. floyd is smarter and is more complex than all three of those guys and has always been. cotto would lose to floyd and i have already explained why in other posts which is why i only respnded to what i responded to in your post. floyd IS MORE SKILLFUL THAN ZAB, PAULIE, AND SHANE. SHANE ISN'T FASTER THAN FLOYD WHERE IT COUNTS, ZAB EITHER, AND PAULIE LACKED THE POWER. SHANE DOESN'T HAVE THE TIMING OF FLOYD, NOR ZAB, NOR PAULIE. COTTO WOULD HOLD HIS HANDS UP HIGH I AGREE, BUT WOULD GET HIT WITH LEFT JABS AND LEAD RIGHT HANDS TO THE PIT OF HI SSTOMACH, FLOYD WOULD DUST COTTO. FLOYD WOULD BREAK COTTO'S BODY DOWN. SHANE MOSLEY HAS NEVER THREW SHARPER PUNCHES THEN FLOYD AT ANY POINT IN HIS CAREER, POINT BLANK PERIOD. FLOYD KNOWS WHERE TO BREAK YOU DOWN AT, AND KNOWS HOW TO LAND VERY WELL AND HE WOULD BE TOO ACCURATE FOR COTTO, AND WOULD CONTROL THE PACE OF THE FIGHT, COTTO OF COURSE HAS A PUNCHER'S CHANCE BUT AGAINST FLOYD, THAT PROVES ONLY THAT HE HAS A SMALL CHANCE OF BEATING HIM, MAINLY BECAUSE FLOYD IS TOO DYNAMIC AND METHODICAL A FIGHTER FOR COTTO.thats one way to look at it but you only thinking about 1 Cotto, you ain't thinking about the Cotto who can fight going backwards, the one who doesn't play into the hands of his opponent, the one who doesn't charge but presses the action, the one whom keeps his hands up and is just about the other best counter puncher in the WW division besides Floyd, the one who out boxed the FASTER THAN FLOYD Mosley(YES, even at age 36 he is faster and more devastating it's just he has more power than skills when compared to Money May), the Cotto who sets up his punches patiently behind his jab and stalks not charges head first.. you talk about only 1 aspect of Miguel Cotto and completely ignore his other, more effective attributes. you act as if ALL Cotto does is apply pressure and you are severely wrong..
