Arum will say anything to get some dumb fans to believe his ****, He didnt go to Harvard university for nothing, He was clever enough to sell Margarito on the back of Mayweather which was enough to get him some exposure from the people that need something bad to write about Mayweather.
Mayweather would fight Cotto but Cotto need to build up the fight and let go of Arum who knows how to get to the dumb fans who does know how boxing works.Last edited by Ray*; 12-10-2007, 05:28 PM.Comment

The thing you'll need to remember, is a big part of those numbers were made because of Oscar and without him on that fight the numbers would not have come close. Of course the Mosley Cotto fight were gonna do less. Had Oscar fought Cotto, those numbers would have matched if not exceeded that number based on the huge Mexican, Puerto Rican fan base alone not to mention the casual fans.Comment

As far as saying Cotto brings no money to the table or doesnt have the star power....then who does?
Vernon Forrest? Zab Judah? Antonio Margarito? Ike Quartey? Paul Williams? Kermit Cintron?
Cotto has more star power than all of them combined. And the only reason Mayweather-De La Hoya had millions of buys was because Oscar. And it was all Hatton fans when he foght Hatton. But he did destroy Hatton lol that was awesome.Comment

Williams would be the biggest test for Floyd
Not that Floyd needs to do take the fight, but if one guy out there might have shot to beat him..that guy is Paul "The punisher" Williams...his praying mantis arms and 100 punches per round would give Floyd more trouble than he's ever seen...how long would Hatton last with Williams??...not long....I say Williams KOs Cotto within ten. I think Margarito only upped his status by losing to Paul the freak!!Comment

Floyd is not bored with the sport. He loves the sport. But its obvious money is a huge motivator for him. Why would somebody subject themselves to a 3 month training camp, hours spent in the gym, and hundreds of rounds of grueling sparring sessions if they didnt love the sport. Floyd loves it and he loves the attention. And he wont get any attention if he stops fighting.
Floyd is a brilliant fighter. But lets be honest beating a part-time fighter, full-time promoter is not very impressive. Than he fights an incredibly one-dimensional undersized British fighter in Hatton. And Floyd has the nerve to say hes the best ever or hes done everything he needs to accomplish in the sport. Give me a break!! I have no problem with this guy retiring but if he does (which he wont) than you cant claim your better than the all-time greats.
Cotto is a natural 147 whos hungry, young and determined. Hes a strong fighter with a brutal and devastating body attack. His boxing is surprisingly good as well. I think its a fight that needs to be made.Comment

I don't get it, I just don't ****ing get it. When Mayweather was crying at the post-Baldi fight press conference he said he doesn't need the money.
"I'm not in it for money, I'm in here for legacy". He's said it before, can't nobody argue wit me on that ****.
Mayweather and De La Hoya's fighting for money and fame now. Cotto just gets busy and fights, only thing I don't like about him is he's not a businessman, or tryna be, like Mayweather and De La Hoya. He livin' good, though, so it's all right, all he gotta do is fight. I don't care if Cotto gets knocked out in the 1st round, just make the ****ing fight, Floyd.Comment

De La Hoya will always be the biggest draw in boxing ever. He loses and still makes big numbers. Why? Because he's light skinned and pretty, pause, and he's a humble motha****a. People love him.
