A black man doesn't want to lose to a white man in something he believes he's better than. And yes it does involve racial history. There is and will always be a grudge. The relationship between black and white. Just like I would get no respect if I went with a white woman.

A white man doesn't want to lose to a white man in something he believes he is better at. Men don't like losing ever, we're hard-wired as social animals to prefer winning to losing. And how can Bernard Hopkins possibly have a race-based grudge against Joe Calzaghe? Even if you subscribe to the absurd notion that the sins of the fathers are visited upon the sons, Calzaghe's background is English and Italian, with the Italians having very little involvement of the slave trade (and we know that's the issue here, that's to blame) and the British did more as a nation than any other to eradicate the abomination that was slavery just as soon as it was decided that it was morally abhorrent.

The civil rights movement and emancipation of slavery was a hugely important step forward in human development. It was to the benefit of everybody back or white. By continuing holding a grudge against all white people you're only holding everybody including yourself back. Hopkins is a smart and articulate guy who does himself a major disservice with this kind of crap.

Just said? Ok two years ago, but that wasnt cool, he was mad at the decision and thought he should have gotten it. Not cool for him to say what he said at any rate, sounds like a person detached from cancer probably or hasnt had a loved one with it. Not sure how his mom past but very insensitive for him to say such things.

I guess cuz they never heard about this, cuz I sure hadnt till now. At the same time I became a fan because of his boxing ability not his moral character, which I feel people need to detach themselves from if they are first becoming a fan from the boxing, not saying that person isnt hard to like, cuz some can be, but he isnt for me to judge.

So he was mad because he lost his title. He was just being sore.

Because they know its promotion, in this case it's to get calzaghe to sign to fight him. The cancer thing was out of line, but he was just being sore for losing his title.
