Bringing in the element of excitement to his fight. He was NEVER a perfect fighter, which some likes, but he was ALWAYS willing to fight the best. Which purists like. He's a decent looking guy, so girls/woman like him, plus he could smile one minute and try and kill someone the next. Also a plus for fans, and girls to an extent. He had/has a killer instinct if he has you hurt, a great left hook and would look for it if needed. American, who can speak Spanish perfectly, essentially, so he touches on both fanbases, to a certain degree.

So you get, Mexicans, Americans, females, AM career, purists, casual (who just like the big fights), and fans who TRULY just like his style. Gold medal, all the titles.. It's just a great combination.
Chavez and Whitaker were well past their prime. Gatti was fighting at a weight that he has proved to be ineffective at. The Vargas fight was a solid win versus a young prime fighter.

            mayweather HOF

he also beat HOFers chavez, pernell, vargas(do to young champion my opp he is no HOF) gatti, campas(do to 100 fights not HOF in my book)
He beat many good fighters also
            leija
            chicanito
            carr
            ike
            mayorga

Most of those fighters Tito already disposed of and show'd De La how to do it. I love gatti to death, but if that one of his top 3 wins, thats a lil sad. DHL was in alot of close fights. Good but not Great. His personality got him were he is now, he has no right taking a year off then fighting the elite fighters who have been working there A off. Purists will hopefully agree with me.

So youre telling me, when Oscar was fighting someone like Tito or a non mexican they were rooting against Oscar? Of course, there was that hate from the Chavez fight, but even when someone like Fernando Vargas tried to personify that hate from the "real mexicans", he got his ass beat.

I disaggree, you can't win a fight simply by throwing the jab, when Delahoya was throwing a **** load of punchs. He looked like a midget in there vs. sturm, but he beat him just barely.
