I put it all on top ranks, they had a good product and they made da la hoya what he is today. So my answer is great promoting.Comment

Sadly, they weren't able to do the same with Floyd Mayweather.
But you can give props to top rank for building Margarito and Pavlik. They talk about Chavez having a slow ride, but Pavlik had a slow ride then they let him lose and has been on a terror since -he was the real deal.Comment

First off the ladys love Oscar, which brought out TONS of female fans to the big fights that otherwise couldnt care less for boxing. Oscar then got on talk shows like Leno and became a big crossover star. The ladys like him and he is actually articulate and seemed comfortable in the spotlight. Plus he always fought exciting fights and fought all the best guys of his era. Whats not to like? Well unless you are an ignorant ****phob that thinks wearing womens clothes in a hotel room makes him less of a fighter.Comment

Between his KO rampage coming up and his style of fight (he would trade with you, and you would taste the canvas) and reaching his peak with the Trinidad and Vargas fights, he already developed a fan base that included a **** load of white people. He was large draw in the sport that people wanted to see. I mean he was one of the sports best non-black athletes in a sport that was dominated by black athletes. It was different to see, and people had to see it. I remember bein at friends houses that didn't know who the **** he was and their parents seeked his fights just by what they "heard."
He had a Tiger Woods effect on the sport back then, you'd hear about em, you'd want to see em, when you saw him he'd put people on the canvas, he showed the kind of agression and ruthlessness that you wouldn't expect from a pretty boy.
A good lookin nice guy that could fist **** you...lol you serious? that **** was unheard of.Comment
