I dont believe it effected the outcome of the fight. I think that's a stretch, and people are being swayed by Lampley's yelling like Cotto was on the verge of being knocked out.

I just watched the fight again, and Cotto was not even hurt when the ref stepped in. Mosely was in the process of trying to take the fight to Cotto, and observers just weren't used to seeing Cotto backing up. No way did that affect the fight. No way.
