Does anyone have a good argument for Cotto?

I would agree that Mosley is faster and the better boxer, but I wouldn't agree that Mosley is stronger than Cotto at 147. Cotto seems to have gotten so much stronger with the move to 147. I think that Cotto's constant pressure and vicious body attack will slow Shane down in the later rounds where his speed won't be as much of a factor later in the fight. Shane also tends to want to stand toe to toe at times, and I think that favors Cotto. I don't expect him to box and move as much as people think. After he takes a couple of hard shots, he will want to stand and trade to try and prove he's the stronger of the two. I think the longer the fight goes, it favors Cotto, because he seems to get stronger in the later rounds, and I do think that Cotto's youth will come into play not to mention I think he is hungrier at this point in his career. Should be a good fight though.I haven't seen one. Even the guys picking him to win seem to only point out that Shane is 36 and has to slow down sometime. I've seen a ton of great points in Mosley's favor - "he's faster, stronger, a better boxer, better chin, etc..." Is it just that there is no good argument for Cotto? Does Shane really have to get old overnight to lose here? I want to hear why the people picking Cotto think he'll win.Comment

You're right about Shane knocking down Collazo, I had forgotten about that. However, I still believe that his power and speed are overrated. The fact that you called Cotto a drunken dancer makes it obvious that you dislike him. If I remember correctly you said Zab would detroy him, so I don't think you respect his skills much. He has appeared hurt on occasions, but he always takes it and comes back. He took 39 power shots in one round from Torres and was only "down" after being pushed, so I don't understand why you and others question his chin. People say Pavlik has a great chin because he took flush shots from Taylor and only went down but recovered. P4P Torres hits MUCH harder than Taylor, and he still couldn't get Cotto down, so I think it's a racial-personal issue when people say he has a bad chin.Fine post, TY. But out of respect for the facts I'll say I few things..
Collazo has a good sturdy chin. He's had a previous TKO but Luis himself went on record claiming that that fight was stopped prematurely. Passionately so.
Hatton caught Collazo blind with a momentum/balance shot and it was nothing more than a flash knockdown. Mosley also knocked Collazo down under roughly similiar circumstances only Shane did it in the late rounds. So Hatton is not at all one over on Mosley. Shane DID hurt Collazo in fact.. But Collazo is game. He was HURT though, no doubt about it.
Also, Collazo was not one handed for ****. He broke his thumb. Thumbs are isolated in the gloves and do not hinder a fighters ability to make a fist. It was a lukewarm EXCUSE from Collazo. I don't blame him.. Luis is a damn good fighter and obviously no pushover. People forget overnight that he basically beat Hatton and got robbed.. Or so it has been said.
In general; Mosley hasn't KO'd guys in the period you refer to because of the size of the gloves and the obvious fact that the guys he was fighting had very good chins. These are guys who have barely been knocked out for the most part. The details are significant when it comes to this issue.
I'll tell you one thing.. ALL of those guys are harder to hurt than Cotto.
People can talk about Diaz, Cruz, Estrada, all they want.
Cotto is the drunken dancer. Not them.

Yeah, no that was good when he stayed up with Torres. I was impressed he took those all and kept at it. His chin is weird. I ain't gonna lie. NOBODY really understands Cotto's chin. You're right about Shane knocking down Collazo, I had forgotten about that. However, I still believe that his power and speed are overrated. However, it's obvious that the chin stuff can't be anything good. Eventually it's going to be some kind of problem. Maybe Miguel can take the punches now, but possibly later in life damage could show.
Regardless, his brain was not well suited for getting hit.
His body tells the reaction.
It makes people uncomfortable to see someone hurt prematurely and/or unnaturally. I think that has alot to do with it. There are people who watch this sport that see something wrong with a guy who seems to be hurt so surprisingly. It feels wrong.
Miguel also doesn't do the best job of protecting himself. It's gotta be hard for his family to watch. Imagine if that was your brother or son.
Hopefully, it really isn't a problem for him. That's how I feel.
I want good strong fighters putting on good shows.
I hate weakness. That's why I have chosen against him.Comment
