I can't understand how Kessler went from a solid challenger to elite p4p fighter over night, it must be some hype machine at work or something.

Calzaghe's biggest wins were against Lacy and Kessler, both of whom, while good fighters were never in the top ranking at any time in their careers. Kelly Pavlik has a better track record than Joe Calzaghe IMO.

I respect your opinion fella, but I just think calz has too much for hops, I know the general logic is that "he knows how to win" by basically cheating in all honesty, but calz will just stay on the outside and pick him apart to a boring decision, but theres no better fight for him at the mo.

I can respect that. And I could see the fight going in Joe's favor too but I'm picking Hopkins rather comfortably.

First off Calzaghe is an offensive fighter, and Hopkins is a defensive fighter. It's hard to be offensive and force openings when your opponet gives you little to nothing to work with. Both guys also fight at angles, which should make the fight rather interesting in the chess department.

Joe fights but swarming and forcing exchanges, for point-scoring punches. He himself admitted this and after the Kessler fight admitted that when he does so he leaves himself wide open sometimes. Wide open for counter right hands and uppercuts, Hopkins' favorite punches.

Joe can try to force an exchange all he wants but I doubt he gets far with it. I see Hopkins waiting on the outside, baiting with a jab, and then countering with a hard right hand all night. Immediately followed up by an ugly headbutt and a messy clinch. Stylistically, if Calzaghe can beat Hopkins and make it entertaining he would be a god amongst men.

Calzaghe is offensive but he knows when to be and to what degree, I agree that hopkins in his current state is a counter offensive in defensive (if thats what you mean) boxer, but if hes up against a fighter who just stays on the outside and peppers him with shots i don't see what he can do bar pull him in and try to land a head.

I also agree with you about him countering with the uppercut but i don't think he's fast nor powerful enough to do anything with it, calz could sit there and trade or go for the kill, its certainly a chess match game on paper but in reality i just think calz is too much and has too much to offer to be beaten at the moment, id like a bet on it if it happens though so come my way if its announced, its boxing and id be happy to eat my words(but only on the strong belief that i'm in the right hehe)

Calzaghe will be an even better fighter at 175, he struggles to get down to 168 and now with EVEN MORE stamina he could give Hopkins trouble beyond belief.

This p4p list of Ring Magazine's is the biggest joke in boxing.

I don't think so. Pavlik is a great young boxer. On the other hand, Calzaghe is a 10+ undefeated champion. Big difference.

Calzaghe was 2 pounds UNDERweight at the weigh in. Doesn't look like such a struggle to me.

I never said anything about "The Ring's List", I was talking serious boxing fan's lists. And Kessler wasn't on any of them either.
