I think he's hinting at Calzaghe, or at least I hope he is. I really don't know how even Bernard's biggest detractors could say something like that with all of his sucess in the ring.

it could be joe, but i think it is bernard he is implying. because it appaearts tyhat bernard priced himself out before and also the fact that calzaghe's camp is saying you can choose where, when, what ref etc aslong as cal gets paid. obviously if hopkinds demands something crazy then it is not worth it from frank warren's point of view.

ofcourse he could mean joe by not chasing the fights. now that joe seems to be a bigger name on hbo, atleast that gives him some buying power to pressure others to fight him.

'Nard definitely priced himself out against both Calzaghe and Jones (rematch). But even with that I still think he's done enough in the ring for his legacy not to be questioned. I think the same thing about Calzaghe too actually, his detractors say he will never be a great because he never left his Country to fight the big fights but I've been a pretty vocal supporter of his accomplishments from day one.

It's unfortunate that Calzaghe never got to fight a Jones, Hopkins, or Toney in his prime but even now at his age those fights are possible and he seems to have enough left to pull out some big wins before he retires.

i don't think he is questioning hopkins career. more so on if the calz fight doesn't get made.

tbh i don't thikn this fight has any importance. they both are past their prime and the fight may vbe quite boring. it woudl only benefit calz because he will have a big name on his resume and hopkins because he has beaten the best at smw.

              oh and the money.

I'm thinking Calzaghe will be active enough to beat Hopkins. The story of the Wright fight was Winky just not being fit enough being 170 to sustain pressure the whole fight. He also was very bothered by 'Nard's dirty tactics, and that cut. Something tells me Calzaghe would thrive in that, and I know Hopkins' movement wont tire him out. That just seems impossible considering the pace he fought at last fight.

Hopkins was able to time his counter rights against Wright perfectly, in fact he even made Wink look ordinary at times. One thing about Joe though is he's much quicker and craftier than Wright, and he will be sticking the jab downstairs and mixing his punches up.

In Calzaghe, what I see is a guy who throws a lot of weak punches, goes backwards against offense, and leaves himself wide open when trading shots. Granted he's a great fighter and an accomplished Champion, but I think Hopkins will **** him up, badly at that.

Most people here would probably disagree with that statement, but those are the same people who've been waiting for Hopkins to retire for years. With his unorthodox style, Hopkins makes very active opponets inactive by using bait tactics. With his roughhouse inside fighting, Calzaghe won't be throwing nearly as much against a guy like Hopkins.

I see Hopkins fighting a very brilliant/dirty affair that will probably be one of so ugly it'd make Hopkins/Wright look like a masterful performance.

Still I think Hopkins will beat Calzaghe and beat him badly at that.

Probably because he has avoided Calzaghe for along time anyone in boxing knows this.He makes the right noises prior to signing then when it comes down to it hechooses an easier option.Last time he said he wanted to fight Calzaghe, then a couple of weeks later he started saying he wanted to fight for a heavyweight title as this will do more for his career, then he fought Winky Wright.I will be astounded if Hopkins ever steps in the ring with Calzaghe, give it 2 weeks and he will be changing his tune AGAIN and talking bout fighting someone else or retiring.
