Taylor has yet to show the heart, style and promise of a champion. Roy made an excellent observation.
Roy Jones: "I Told DiBella, Turn Down Pavlik"
Collapse

but when does Roy ever make a prediction in a perceived pick-'em? Or even at all?
He claimed years later that he told King and Tito not to take the Hopkins fight because he knew it was a no-hoper. Yet all the way up until the opening bell, all Roy was talking about was a potential 2002 showdown with Trinidad, that he didn't want to hear **** about Trinidad stalling negotiations or wanting to get used to a higher weight. He wanted the Tito fight NEXT, all along discussing it as if Tito beating Hopkins was a foregone conclusion.
More of the same here. Like I said, the only involvement I recall between Roy and DiBella, was Roy disappearing when Lou was attempting to finalize an opponent for him on HBO.
Maybe part of the text message he sent to Lou included something about advising Taylor not to take the Pavlik fight. Though it sounds like it would've been the world's longest text message.Comment

Right...like James Toney, Hopkins, Tarver, Griffin, Reggie Johnson, Woods...Jones never fought anyone. Sure.
Moving on, Pavlik would not only have gotten crushed by John Ruiz, he would have lost to a 38 year old McCallum as well. Bet your ass.
Furthermore, Roy was right. His predictions have been very accurate and his commentary on HBO very consistent. And yes, Pavlik would have a tough fight with Hanshaw. Hanshaw is bigger than Pavlik, only lost to Roy, and fights a dog fight style and has a solid chin. Pavlik would not be able to just run him over.Comment

Ur an idiot if u think jones has a chance against pavllik. All u jones fans do nothing about talk how great jones was in his prime, well i have news for you 1) when he was in his prime he didn't fight that many great fighters and more importantley 2) no matter how good he was in his prime, HE IS CLEARLY NO LONGER THERE!!!! he was brutally knocked out by tarver and johnson, was absolute **** in the tarver rubbermatch, was very hurt in the first round of the Prince fight, and has fought bums since who he wasn't at all impressive with. He can bash taylor all he wants, but the matter of the fact is if it was JOnes who fought Pavlik, or if he fights him in the future, MARK MY WORDS Jones will get brutally BRUTALLY knocked the **** out! it would be worse than both tarver and johnson fights, he would just be layin there on the canvas for a couple of minutes out of it. MArk my words. in fact, i don'yt see him beating taylor either and i think taylor could also possibley knock him out. Give hansaw to pavlik, pavlik would kill him. JONES U SUCK NOW AND UR ****** DELUTED FANS R OBSESSED WITH UR PAST AND TOO BLIND TO SEE HOW BAD U R NOW, CHALLENGE A FAT OLD MAN WELTERWEIGHT WHO LOST HIS LAST 2 OUT OF 4 FIGHTS IN EMBARASSING FASHION AND HASN't FOUGHT IN 3 YEARS, CAUSE IF U MOVED DOWN AND CHALLENGED THE MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMP U WOULD GET ****ED UP AND U KNOW IT!!! thanks, and to all jones fans that will cry when they read this, u better shut up before u make me angry cuz then i just might to have to knock out ur precious jones myself!!!!Right...like James Toney, Hopkins, Tarver, Griffin, Reggie Johnson, Woods...Jones never fought anyone. Sure.

Taylor and Hanshaw could barely beat a 17yr old Pavlik in the amateurs.
