Curious to know when this conversation between Roy and DiBella took place. I thought it was last left off at DiBella being unable to get in touch with Roy in attempting to secure a co-feature slot on the Taylor-Spinks card, and that Roy's people eventually sent DiBella a text message saying they weren't interested.

Anyway, it's nice to see Roy re-establish his stance as the king of after-the-fact boxing predictions. Emanuel Steward was starting to chip away at his lead.

"Any time that you are the middleweight champion of the world and Zab Judah can stop Cory Spinks and you can't....and Zab Judah was a junior welterweight moving up to welterweight, and you are the middleweight champion and you can't stop Cory Spinks. C'mon dude, there is something wrong there," Jones said. "Either you are not getting up to the level of your competition, but really that ain't no up."
This is real. Being saying this for a while.

Spinks fought completely different against Taylor than he did against Judah. Spinks never sat down on any punch in the entire fight against Taylor, just flicked them out there as he was moving. Nearly impossible to catch up to a fighter who is just intent on losing and running away.

but that's distorted logic. Taylor couldn't put Spinks on his ass, yet was a punch away from Pavlik being regarded as overrated rather than new middleweight champ.

Spinks hardly came intending to lose. In fact, quite a few people had him WINNING the fight at nights end. He ran a bit toward the end, but for the most part, he played stick and move. Not every fighter is going to fight toe-to-toe. It was Jermain's job to solve and/or neutralize Cory's style, not Cory's to stand in front of Jermain and eventually lie down.

Not saying the fight wasn't a complete borefest as a result (it was). But Spinks didn't fight to lose and survive. He fought to win by fighting his fight.

I agree with you, though, on Spinks' approach in the Zab fights being different than the Taylor fight.

Wow! To say that Jones ducked Cal is not true. Neither (especially Cal) made any effort to fight each other. Jones was recognized as "The Man" in all of boxing at the time & he would have to travel to his opponents backyard to fight? That to me doesn't make sense & if Cal wanted to the fight to prove he was the best he would've brought his ass to the US & made it happen if he was so confident in his skills. Here's an interesting quote from Cal that to me sums up his desire to fight Jones when Jones was on top:

BBC, Sport, BBC Sport, bbc.co.uk, world, uk, international, foreign, british, online, service

Cal says after the Jones vs. Tarver I fight:

"He looked human for a change in his last fight against Tarver and that's given me confidence that I can beat him."

Well what happened to his supposed "confidence" for the several years before that if he was really interested in a Jones fight?

Roy knows enough about boxing to have predicted this fight correctly. How many times did he say what was going to happen then it happened when he actually turned up to announce for HBO. Manny is wrong alot of times when he makes a prediction then at the end he knew it would happen.

Yeah this is the real reason. Spinks fought like Roy did in the Tarver 3rd fight. They were both there not to get KO'ed or hurt. At least Roy didn't celebrate at the end like he won the fight he just celebrated not getting KTFO.

Roy has been wrong plenty of times too. Like he said Hopkins would never become a star and needed him to get there.

That has nothing to do with calling a fight or predicting who is going to win a fight. Stuff like that is more to do with Roys ego then anything else.
