Agreed... there is one fighter that held a world title, and beat everyone he fought except for the elite fighters. Was he elite? NO!

      His name is... DeMarcus Corley.

Well, I can assure you that Miguel Angel Gonzales was elite. But since you were probably still sucking tit in the early 90s, you wouldn't know this. I actually watched boxing in the 90s.

But there's more to choose from:

Tszyu holds victories over ten former and future world champions:

Juan Laporte (WBC Featherweight champion) of Puerto Rico
Livingstone Bramble (WBA Lightweight Champion) of the ****** Islands
Jake Rodriguez (IBF Light Welterweight Champion) of Puerto Rico
Roger Mayweather (WBC Super Featherweight Champion, WBA Light Welterweight Champion) of the United States
Calvin Grove (IBF Featherweight Champion) of the United States
Rafael Ruelas (IBF Lightweight Champion) of the United States
Miguel Angel Gonzalez (WBC Lightweight Champion) of Mexico
Julio Cesar Chavez (WBC Super Featherweight Champion, WBA/WBC Lightweight Champion, WBC/IBF Light Welterweight Champion) of Mexico
Sharmba Mitchell (WBA Light Welterweight Champion) of the United States
Zab Judah (IBF Light Welterweight Champion) of the United States
Jesse James Leija (WBC Super Featherweight Champion) of the United States

How relevant to the question of whether Miguel Angel Gonzalez was elite...

I actually picked him to beat Kostya at the time, because I wasn't that long after the phillips loss. I put him in the Top 5 Elite fighters in Light Welter division at the time.

You have laid out an interesting dilemma for Wiley...

              He can either,

              1. Accept your prediction as validation for Gonzalez being an elite fighter.

              OR

              2. Berate you for picking anyone to beat Kostya Tszyu.

              Decisions, decisions.

I do think Miguel wasn't quiet himself that night, he had just come of along lay off and looked like he'd been spending too much time in the sun. I thought the fight would have been much closer. That man has one hell of a chin.
