It was no mistake, he was paid off.

Taylor was never the same, he was real hurt out on his feet what if Chavez would of landed another hard 1-2 and killed the man?

Chavez could of landed 5 punches in 5 seconds. And it was 2 seconds, not 5.

The refferees first and foremost priority is the safety of the fighters, not accessing how much time is left and who is ahead on the scorecards.
Taylor was hurt and didnt respond to the question.....end of fight.
thank you because that supports my arguement. what could chavez do in 2 little seconds? the clock would have ran out because steele was still talking to Taylor. chavez wouldnt have even made it across the ring in time to get to tayor.

Yeah right!!! /sarcasm It took only a few seconds for Taylor to get back the hell up. And taylor could talk perfectly fine after the fight was stopped. If he was so hurt he would have been rushed to the hospital right away instead of giving an interview right after the fight.

              Synchronisity.

I watched the fight again last night, and the end of Legendary Nights..

I hated Steele's stoppage. HATED IT. When you add up all the factors it was still obviously the very end of the final round and Steele knew it even without knowing how much time was left. He asked Taylor if he was OK twice, but he was QUICK about waving it off regardless.. And to hear him say years later he has no regrets at all infuriates me quite a bit. PISSES ME OFF.

Single worst call in boxing history. Even worse than the "long count" (Dempsey-Tunney).

He knocked him down in the last ten seconds of a fight which he hadnt been able to do the previous 35 minutes, whats the difference? He walks forward and acknowledges Steele, he wins but he didnt, i really dont get whats so hard to understand. Its not Richard Steele's job to decide if he can last two seconds or not, Meldrick was out of it, didnt respond, so fight is over, its not that hard.
