If Floyd went to the UK would it get coverage? Of course it would. Of course it would get more coverage if he was going to fight, say, Ricky Hatton, than if he went to fight Gavin Rees or Junior Witter. If Floyd came to England in the future to fight the newspaper headlines would identify him as one of Hatton's former opponents...

Regardless, it gets covered. Hatton HAS been here, I've yet to read ANYTHING on him. That says something.

EDIT: By that I mean that he has no casual fans here. None. I bet you can find casual fans in the U.K. who atleast give a **** about Mayweather.

Floyd is more famous for failing at Dancing than being successful at boxing. I think the lack of coverage says more about the lack of boxing coverage than it does about Hatton's popularity. There appears to be an agenda against boxing in the US media. It is vilified as a sport. It's well documented that any article in mainstream or even sports media about boxing is a lamentation about how it is "dying". That simply isn't the case in Britain where even minor British fighters like Matthew Macklin, Howard Eastman, Michael Hunter, Graham Earl, Danny Williams etc get decent air-time on the sports pages. Does Paul Williams get mainstream sports air-time? Does Bernard Hopkins? Even the biggest names in boxing in the United States get at most a minor column, if they are lucky. Every year Sports Illustrated runs an article called "The Greatest Fights in Sports History" and doesn't mention a single boxing match...

Floyd might get some coverage in the UK largely through being an opponent of Hatton. Hatton wouldn't get any coverage in the UK (outside boxing publications) because Mayweather doesn't either.

That's the point. In America, unless you're De La Hoya, or Mayweather.. you DON'T get coverage. I think that says a lot about his overall....... curiosity level. People just hate or love him. Either way, strong emotions equal strong turnouts.

But Mayweather doesn't get coverage. Maybe a little in Flint, and a minor amount for being on DWTS, but it seems to be a travesty to hang around on the p4p lists for ten years and still not get a mention in the mainstream media for your achievements. If the best boxer in the world was British you'd damn well hear about it!

Yes. In Britian. Because as little as 10 years ago, that seemed so unlikely to ever happen anytime soon. Another black American is the p4p king.. What's new? Thing is, he wa all over the news, was in the tabloids over here, and I live in a very small rural town in Washington State. Hatton, not so much.

But you're entitled to your opinion, and we'll find out who is closer to being right on December 8th.

....hatton is NOT more popular here in the united states, hes not in our media outlets, hes not in our sports magazines or websites other than boxing specific etc. regardless, hatton's "draw" isnt even from americans, its from UK folks coming to see him overseas, hes not the draw here, and the fight would have still sold out regardless if hatton had all those people coming or not. If mayweather fought mosley in vegas it would still sell out regardless. Mayweather actually has a legit name at this point and is the biggest US star not named de la hoya.

Hatton is the biggest fighter in his country and his popularity is unmatched...IN THE UK, but here, i can honestly say that he does NOT have a sizable american fanbase.

How many ppv's has Hatton sold? Common Hatton don't be delusional this many brits didn't come to watch you face JLC about 10k went correct? 3 times that amount want to come to the U.S. because he is facing Mayweather. It may be his fans but the reason so many are coming is because Mayweather is number 1 right now.

.....man, how many times must i say it. Especially within the black community, floyd is extremely popular, ill never forget about a year ago i saw floyd mayweather being mentioned and interviewed in EBONY, a magazine for ****ing women for the most part, as well as countless interviews in the source, xxl, jet etc. BIGPOPPAPUMP already said this as well, among the hiphop community and the black community especially, for the last 3 years floyd has really been put at the forefront of sportstardom.

His time on DWTS was not minor, that **** was everywhere because he is an in his prime sports star on the show, it was bigger than when jerry rice and holyfield were on. Either way, alot of people not from the united states make these assumptions about mayweathers popularity only examining it from an internet angle when that couldnt be further from the truth. Among his sporting peers, hes also highly respected, this is evidenced from the amount of people within sports who were pulling for him to beat de la hoya.

Yeah sure all your one thousand posts are very pro-Floyd from pillar-to-post, whether or not (WON) he's p4p king, WON his resume is great, WON his personality is great, WON his fights are needed for boxing, WON he's a greater ppv attraction than DLH, WON he's a greater ppv attraction than Hatton, etcetera, etcetara. And you go through great lengths to defend your pro-Floyd stance (just check this thread). Stop lying that he ain't your favorite fighter.

Not contented with this, you lie that Pacquaio is your favorite fighter while saying that Morales and Barrera are shot.

You say one thing on one hand, then say things inconsistent with your claims.
